    He's going to turn Zion into a fat PJ Tucker

    I'll preface that MDA is fully within his right to explore the Pelican vacancy if they pursue MDA. But isn't that going to be awkward for coaching brotherhood: Alvin was MDA's assistant in phoenix days, and from the outside, looks like still good friends. To take that job that they just let your friend go is a bit awkward; literally replacing your friend... seat is not even cold yet.

    To be able to coach a Zion is enticing, but I would ask what are MDA's goals?

    Coach a budding star, better paycheck or win a 'ship?

    Pel last in our division. There could be a whiff of healthy cp3 at OKC karma, where MDA goes to New Orleans and they take off. Unlocks Ingram, makes lonzo look good, and jj sniping from 3's.

    Yup, and his coaching definitely failed us in 2018 when CP3 went down as well. If he had a little bit of real coaching, that 0-27 doesn't happen and we win that game 7. I have very little faith in his decision making when it comes to small vs. big, calling the right time-out and just changing things up when something is not working. I do think you're touching on a very important point: Morey's influence and role in all of this. It might be bigger than we assume. Or basically an agreement what data they will follow / incorporate and since MDA was already a believer in fast offense and lots of threes, he just ran with whatever Morey presented to him.

    I think it's probably much more complicated to the point of blaming Morey or MDA for our strategy, but in any case it's clear it has become a thing where there's little possibility for change. When all year or for years you've taught players to ignore any shot outside of the 3 and a lay-up or dunk, it's hard to go back to what instinctually comes to you which is take any open shot on the floor. For both Morey and MDA there's definitely an urge and ego-driven agenda to win it all. What I really don't understand is how MDA seems to refuse to use common sense in all of this. We're doing something new so maybe common sense doesn't apply anymore to him or them, but taking a (contested) 3 early in the shot clock when you're down 2 with 2-3 minutes left (happened in the game vs. Blazers), is just not smart.

    There is very little chance at a rebound since at most there's 2 guys with you. The chance at it being contested is high. And when a game gets tight and you just worked hard to get back into the game or keep it close, going for the easiest shot and chance at FTs makes way more sense. So either attack or take a shot in rhythm, whether it's a 2 or 3 doesn't matter as long as it's open. Rather tied by a long 2 - Morey's worst nightmare - that took 20 seconds to set up than banking on a 3 to go in, when legs are tired and literally 1 shot at the basket. At least when everything is set up, it's 5-on-5 we have a chance at a rebound. This is just one example, but we take those early threes consistently and while we've made them at times, I rarely have seen them go in in clutch time unless someone was hot and or it was Harden.

    I personally believe we could win a championship with our style, easily but that's in theory since you have a guy like Harden and MDA as your coach. But when Morey fails time and time again to get reliable 3pt shooters and MDA refuses to apply some common sense and recognise situations to the point of actually calling a time-out and be the coach, then it's time for change. As currently constructed we might get hot and win that trophy, but I don't believe in MDA enough. I believe he will go back to 8 guys consistently and we will struggle from three. If we get hot, we might get lucky, but I don't think MDA will be the difference maker in that case. I'd like to see some change at the helm.

    Morey's hands are tied, so we will likely have a worse roster next season and during the Westbrook years we will struggle heavily with this system, therefore getting rid of Morey makes no sense and replacing MDA makes the most sense. I'd like to see a veteran who's won it before, has paid his dues, but is still young and not afraid to innovate and be creative with his approach and game plan. Cassell would be a homer pick, but he does fit that ball. He's learned from a very solid coach, has some inside info on that Clippers strategy and has won it all as a youngster and right before he retired. He knows what it takes.

    So the NBA has a vaccine and cure for the virus which is why teams are willing to invest during the grim because it is worthwhile? If not I don't see the speculation in the current crippled business.

    To MDA's credit, this ultra smallball crap is Morey's idea and is stupid. It could work but MDA's too stubborn to widen his rotation to let guys like PJ get rest. He'd rather play PJ 50 minutes than give Luc 10 minutes

    Zion @$#@$@ because Gentry saved, or protect him. Like Nuggets managing MPJ. The offense should be Zion, Zion......

    We aren't firing him. His contract is up after this season and all negotiations with him has failed so far. Granted, if we really wanted to keep him, we would spend the money. But then again, Tillman is broke.

    Thanks for posting this interesting NEWS AND RUMOR
    @cyberx

    That's something interesting that we can discuss because Rockets fans with BRAINS understand that there's a chance we get a coaching change if we fail in the playoffs like we did last year.

    Sam Amick: It’s no surprise, then, that they were almost immediately tied to Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni as a possible replacement, per ESPN. D’Antoni, whose Rockets have been firing 3s at a historice rate for years now, is a coaching free agent this offseason and widely expected to leave Houston. Even if it’s not D’Antoni in the end, I’d be very surprised if it’s not a coach with an offense-first profile.

    John Hollinger’s instant reaction: Surprise! McMillan reportedly had recently signed a one-year contract extension. However, there had been rumors since last autumn that the Pacers would part ways with McMillan after the season and pursue the Rockets’ free-agent-to-be Mike D’Antoni.
