Leave it to this team to completely drain all the "thrill" out the playoffs run. Falling DOA into the playoffs is hardly a prescription for fan excitement and support. If the Rockets lose to both the Clippers and the Warriers this week, I for one will become "officially" disinterested in their first playoff appearance in forever.

This is the most dysfunctional bunch of "professional" basketball players to ever wear the Rocket's red. They turn you on just so they can break your heart. They are "right there" in a position to win, only to hand the fans another disappointment. Even though it seems impossible for them to miss the playoffs, don't rule out the possibility that they may find a way. Cubs fans, we feel your pain. :(

This is so stupid. Can you guys wait till the playoffs to complain about the playoffs. As if you don't complain about enough things already.

I am not complaining about the playoffs, I am disappointed that the Rockets are losing "every" game on the "home stretch" to the playoffs. Building momentum seems preferable, but that's just me.

We have played a tough schedule. I'm not that worried.

It's at a point where I'm more suprised when the Rockets make a good play than I'm disappointed when they make a bad play. Instead of "nice shot!", It's "OMG, we actually made a shot!"

I seriously doubt we'll finish the season losing 10 in a row or whatever. The law of averages says we'll go into the playoffs hot. If not, then we can only blame our overextended rotation. Tired people don't play good defense.

I don't know, I'm still pretty freakin' excited about the playoffs. It's been a long time since I've had this feeling.

The goal at the start of the season was to make the playoffs and maybe win a game or 2. So far, so good.

Despite all the doomsday posts in this forum, I think the team is right on schedule. You don't go from not making the playoffs for 4 years to championship contender in 1 year, especially with a new coach (who hasn't even had time to put "his" team together) and a franchise center with less than 2 years of professional basketball under his belt.

Like it or not, this is a rebuilding year. That's just what we're doing. Rebuilding.

The goal for this season wasn't to make the playoffs. The goal was for the team to become more disciplined, improve their offensive execution and shooting. Then, the playoffs would have been a formality. I have seen little improvement in offensive execution, particularly late in games. Almost every shot, besides Yao's, is a difficult, low percentage shot.

If this team's goal was "make playoffs", then that's a pretty weak goal to set, considering over half the teams make the playoffs in the NBA.

If you achieve your goals, then you didn't set them high enough...

That is a hilarious statement! Right on schedule?! Yeah, what you want is the team to go into a season ending losing streak, fall bassakwards into the playoffs with no momentum, no karma, no chance. Yeah, that's just ideal. Geeez.

This is a dumbass team of excuse makers and whiners. If they had put 1/4 of the effort they put into making excuses toward the goals you listed, we would not be having this conversation.

I like your posts but that is a horrible theory...
I think: "Set your goals very high... reach them... and then set even higher goals..." would be better.
Without the passion of high achievement, a team will become passive and complacent. They need to stay hungry but a "failure is inevitable" attitude will not help anything. Goals that are reached create something to build on for high goals to be realized.

I see solid's point. We've lost 8 of our last 11 and are limping into the playoffs on bloody stumps. The recent run hasn't given much hope for any playoff success. Hopefully we can turn it around when the heart and soul of this Rockets team returns from injury.

That's why you set your goal as high as possible. If you put 100% effort (which I hardly see from this team, but that's another post) and reach a half assed goal (e.g: "making the playoffs"), then that means the group of players isn't good enough to reach higher goals, thus changes are needed. If you ask for mediocrity, then you get mediocrity...

Not to continue my negativity, but they'll be lucky to make the playoffs and if they do, then they will get blown out...

Let's see... ultimate goal of team is "Winning Championship".
To get to the Finals, one must make the playoffs

There is nothing wrong with setting such a goal. "become more disciplined, improve their offensive execution and shooting" doesn't guarantee a playoff spot. "Making the playoff" guarantees a playoff spot. I know what you are saying but don't treat this goal as unimportant.

If you are saying that we are no better than last year's team then why did we even bother to bring in JVG?

OK, OK, OK. You guys are right. The Rockets suck, they're a bunch of overpaid losers and I hate them all. They're going to lose out and not make the playoffs, JVG and CD are going to get fired, Yao is going to demand a trade to Golden State and we're all going to DIE!

The "heart and soul" of the Rockets is scouting, taking life easy, and probably looking into head coaching options in other NBA cities...

Don't get carried away! :D And to your last statement, that is exactly what Siggie said to Bob on that rainy night in the lakehouse. But after you face that, what else do you have to worry about. As to these posts, they are all in fun; praising the team is fun, complaining about the team is fun, reorganizing the team is fun, trading people is fun, teasing other posters is fun. It is all about fun, don't take it personal.
