Was a compromise with the other AL West teams, who’s fans apparently don’t like 5pm starts as much as we dislike 9pm starts. Dallas and Houston home games start at 8pm... and the west coast road games also start at 8pm CST (6pm local time for them). In the end, I think its also very dumb.... but with no fans, they are allowed to do such things.
It’s still ultimately the pitcher’s call... and as pitchers get older, they all pretty much call their own game (I doubt Cole was letting Maldanado fully lead the way). However, Lance is neither older nor can he say his recent results speak for themselves prior to yesterday. I honestly think he was tipping his pitches in Arizona... and they mentioned constantly how he likes to go to certain pitches in certain counts way too often. Or he got tired... or he really did get flustered when the roof opened and the air dried out, which he says changed the grip on the ball.
I dont mind it. With our west coast heavy schedule these 8pm starts arent terrible. Now if they can stop going into extras, it would be nice. 4:45 am start for me hits harder after those.
Try being an Astros fan in NY. Besides the outward hate. Games starting at 9 here. I'm only good for 6 innings or 11pm.
It is only for this season. It is being done because Astros play a disproportionate amount of games on the West Coast, and ATT Sports SW likely complained. When fans can attend games, very doubtful they don't go back to way it was.
For all the hypocritical b****es on face book. This is my go to. https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Yankees-implicated-in-performance-enhancing-drug-3295306.php
Bregman really coughed it up there with the hit given up!! 31% hit probability goes right under the glove WOW Awesome to see LMC bounce back. Looked great.
The Astros have activated LHP Brooks Raley (#58). To make room for Raley on the active roster, the club optioned RHP Carlos Sanabria to their alternate training site. Dusty Baker said Jose Altuve would get the day off tomorrow, which with Thursday’s off day, would give him two days off in a row. He didn’t want to give him off today against a left-hander. Why does Reddick hit second? Dusty said he’s hit there before and he likes him in front of Bregman and behind Altuve so he can get fastballs, especially from LH pitchers. They don’t want to walk him and get to Bregman. And he said Tucker and Straw are “not going that good.” Dusty Baker, on the MLB suspension, said: "I just thought they threw the book at us big time What can you do? The rule is the rule."
"He still needs about 4 more weeks of at bats to prove he can hit 0.500 then maybe we'll bring him up to pinch hit occasionally" -Dusty Baker
This kid has a bright future. I love power hitters that can draw walks (Berkman was really good at this).
