No ****ting here! This is probably the only time I would consider trading Steve. Francis + 1st round pick + Nachbar (and maybe some future picks) for Okafor?
Wow, I am impressed. That is the first time I saw his game live, before halftime he is a nonfactor because of the foul trouble, but in the second half he is taking over. But I still think Refs did really bad job officiating, too many weak calls and in the end duke don't have any centers anymore.
duke almost always gets the calls, and those first two on okafur (well the second) were weak, but then damn duke got the shaft. they fouled out almost there entire big man crew. williams and randolph couldn't breathe too hard without picking up a foul every few minutes. okafur basically got to go wild in the second half b/c the whole duke frontcourt couldn't touch him for fear of fouling out. very weak why do refs enjoy taking over games so much? there were whistles all damn night and they affected the game the whole night. who came to watch okafur sit out 16 minutes and then duke play horvath about half the game? duke took two terrible shots (deng and dockery or ewing i think) and then uconn just couldn't miss. this was like '99. connecticut getting lucky down the stretch and beating a duke team that should've won. although now they should've won b/c they had the late lead, in '99 they should've won because they were the best college team i've ever seen and uconn was just red hot (especially hamilton) that night. **** uconn and i'm glad laettner hit that shot on them all that time ago and that it gets replayed so much.
Did you see those two fouls that fouled Williams and Randolph out? They are not even shooting fouls, they basically banging each other in the low post and Refs blew the whistles. Hello, you can't just call those fouls in clutch time, why soo many Refs like to take over games?
Watching this game was almost like watching a Rockets game from this year. Okafor = Yao, got into early foul trouble on PHANTOM fouls (as the thread title says). They actually weren't phantom, but still kinda sissy calls for a big game. Then, when Okafor is fouling out all the dukies in the second half, Gordon/Brown (Francis/Mobley) refuse to pass the ball down low to him, and jack up shots/get called for travelling. But, in the end, Okafor comes up HUGE. Bellaire Cardinals for life!!!! As for the SF3 for Emeka trade, that would be a very good one... but you'll probably have to include a third team to get the contracts/salaries to match up.
Great comeback by UConn to end to the game. Not a huge fan of either university, although I have an old friend who went to Duke who'll be royally ticked off. I agree about the refs... stupid to call a game like that, especially a game as big as this one. (hell, any game!)
I think it may have balanced out but this was a HORRIBLY officiated game WAAAYY too tight bunch of ticky tack fouls Offenses could not flow because of ridiculous offensive fouls and ticky tack fouls it was horrible Rocket River
