Webber's had 50+ games to rehab and still doesn't seem like he's fully recovered. I'd be very, very leery. Never thought I'd say this but Rasheed is half the price and much lower mileaged. I'd stay away from Webber. Plus it's not like the Rockets have alot of players who fit well into a passing offense.
we definately DO NOT need or want chris webber because: 1. he's expensive 2. he's not a great rebounder nor a tough defender, which the rockets need 3. he's injury-prone players for the rockets: 1. AK47 can defend guards or forwards. he'll help out yao stays out of foul trouble. yao only has to stand in front of the offensive guy with his arms up and let the guy charging into him. thus, avoiding fouls. if the guy decides to stop and pop, AK47 will use his long arms to block the shot from behind. 2. mark madsen a bench player who always plays hard and not afraid to bang. he's better than Scott Padgett, who is supposed to be a shooter. but everytime i see him shoot, he misses. if he can't make an outside shot, he's useless because he doesn't play D's. 3. any true point guard who doesn't turn the ball over like SF. what's wrong with SF? he can't seem to beat his man off the dribble anymore. stop doing all the unnecessary crossover dribbles if one is enough.
Playing hard does not solve the problem we have. 1. Mark Madsen is not fast enough to guard the 4's we have to face. 2. Mark Madsen has no game offensively. We need someone to alleviate the pressure on Yao. And number 5, Mark Madsen is a terrible dancer. No Mark Madsen, please.
mad dog would be a better 11th or 12th man than scott padgett because he will get some rebounds and run down some loose balls. would you be complaining his dance if he could help us win the championship even though his contribution is minute.
Padgett can get rebounds, and he runs down some loose balls as well. His hustle was well-received by many on the board, and many were disappointed when JVG opted to sit him and go with a 7-8 man roster. He also has a good midrange jumpshot and some three point shot capabilities. Rather have Padgett than Madsen as 11/12th man.
I would prefer to trade Francis, Cato, and Taylor for Webber and the Kings choice of Bibby or Jackson+contracts.
Yeah. You'd have to do that. I don't see Sacto doing it, but, hey. Stranger things have happened. I wonder how Cat and Cato will fit in to the Princeton offense. Yao CWebb Harpring Allen Barry Yeah.
say no to steve at sg. The guy can not spot up and shoot. Steve would benefit better on another team, by using his strenghts.
i say let trade yao and cato for webber, divac and miller. that way, the kings will win the championship and the rockets plays pretty ball scoring over 90 points a game but gets ousted in the 1st round of the playoffs. SF mobley JJ cwebb miller divac
This is not a good choice. Steve is not a good shooter. I'd rather see him play pg instead of sg. Webber is too expensive and not so good this season so far. I'd rather find someone cheaper and more effective than him.
i love how rocket fans hate ALL the rockets This has turned into GET RID OF EVERYONE BUT YAO thread Rocket River
seems like a lot of people are forgetting that he is 31 years old and, not that you would be giving up a whole lot with cat and cato, but he still is gonna make a lot of money that would hit the rockets cap when webber retires after 2 to 3 years. i thought this team learned its lesson about spending money on aging veterans with charles barkley. sure clyde drexler was an aging vet but the rockets were a much better team than they are now. the biggest problem with cato is his salary doesn't equal his play. i don't see the salary problem being solved with webber.
Webber doesnt have the guts to stand up when the marbles are being counted. He plays softer when he he is playing against good power players. Not what the Rockets need and he is very much over paid. We have enough of the same type of players on the present Roster that we need to get rid of.
From strictly a basketball standpoint this would be a great move by the rockets. C-Webb compliments Yao's game extremely well. Webber has never been a great lowpost player. He's better off playing at the high post shooting jumpers and finding cutters, or cutting to the basket himself. With Yao patrolling the paint, Webber would get all the foul line jumpers he can handle. Also I'd say he's a good rebounder. Not elite, like KG or Big Ben but still very good. Cato probably gets more rp48, but I think that's an overated stat, it's much harder to get big stats over the course of a whole game, than with limited minutes. Also, can you imagine Yao and chris hitting each other with their interior passing. That would truly be a joy to watch. The knocks on Chris' game is mostly that he isn't a dominant franchise level player. But on the rockets that wouldn't matter because, he would be a good sidekick for Yao. Of course in the real world, things can't just be taken from the basketball standpoint. The fact is, that chris has a huge contract, is injury prone, coming upon the downslide of his career at 31, and frankly Sac wouldn't trade him for mobes and cato. With all this in mind I don't see this move happening. If however you want some real dreamcasting, I think it's a real possibility in 6 years when KG's contract is up that we could sign him as a FA if he hasn't won a title by then.
why take webber when we could have Brand? who's much younger and has no history of injuries thus far. Brand's a workhorse, get's lots of offensive boards , blocks and hustles.
