With all the Prince talk going on here recently, I just wanted to let y'all know tickets went on sale this morning for the Friday, August 06, 2004 8:00 PM @ Toyota Center. That happens to be my birthday too. Wow, I'm going to have some fun!!!
Got mine on Friday morning. Membership definetly has it priveledges! This will be a fantastic show. If you went to the theater last Monday to watch the simulcast of the LA show, you know that this will be a fun show. Mostly a hits tour. First time he's toured arenas in about 5 or 6 years. Claims that this will be the last time he plays the hits live. (Don't they all say that at some point?!) The tour is called Musicology and he's out to school everyone on what real music by real musicians is all about.
I'm going to see him in Biloxi, MS May 1st and I can hardly wait. The last time I saw him in concert, he was awesome.
As a "member" do you have any inside info on the show? I hope he doesn't do medleys like when I saw him on the Lovesexy Tour. Do you have access to a probable set list? What was the L.A. show like?
Meogi, The LA show was great. Here's a breakdown: Musicology Let's Go Crazy I Would Die 4 U When Doves Cry Baby I'm A Star SHHHHH D M S R A Love Bizarre & Glamorus Life Instrumental I Feel For U Controversy God (Instrumental) The Beautiful Ones Nothing Compares 2 U Insatiable Sign 'O' The Times The Question Of U The One Let's Work U Got The Look (Short version) Life 'O' The Party (From Musicology) Soul Man Kiss Take Me With U Encore set (all acoustic): Forever In My Live Real Playas Nuthin' After Midnite On The Couch (From Musicology) Little Red Corvette Sometimes It Snows In April 7 (Full band joined in halway through) Purple Rain (Full band) Just about all of the songs were full versions. Unlike the last several tours, he didn't do any medleys. I've noticed that the set list has changed a bit on some of the following dates. The acoustic set seems to have been shortned. Plus he's added a couple more songs from Musicology. He claims that this will be the last time he plays the classic live. We've all heard that before from other artists. We'll see I guess. He said that he'll miss Puple Rain because he loves to play it. As for the club (www.npgmusicclub.com), there is a $25 membership. You get first access to any shows. We also get first and free access to any aftershow that he may do. He recently added an online music store. You can buy Musicology, N.E.W.S (his jazz album), and all of the songs that released to the club inprevious years, in addition to some live tracks. I noticed that he just added a new studio track for sale. I'll have to get that when I get home. A past highlight was on the One Night Alone tour, when he let all of the members in each city attend soundcheck. That was incredible. He jammed for a while, brought up a few people to sing one of his songs, and then just hung out with us and took some questions. Very intimate and very cool. He's not doing that on this tour, though. If you are not interested in joining the club, you can go to www.prince.org to keep up with anything Prince related.
