Well - you'll be interested to find out that the Bulls, Indiana, and Rockets are talking about a 3-way sending Brad Miller to Indiana, Croshere to Houston, and Cato to Chicago.

Anything that gets Cato out of here is GM of the year material to me. If we get something useful in return, that's a bonus. How will Shandon feel about coming off the bench behind Croshere, though? That's assuming he really is interested in staying now.

Deltar, the reason the guy is getting flamed is because he is not innocently stating his opinion, like you might think. You have to read between the lines.

Clutch leaves for for several days, and suddenly "The Rocket Guy" shows up spouting rumors and opinions that are either ridiculously obvious or BS, all the while placing a link to his site in every post (twice in one post). And this link of his is not even in his signature, meaning that anyone who replies specically to a post of his (with the quote feature) will have to delete a link to his site, or else it gets posted again.

I think it is obvious that the guy is saturating the BBS with spam for his own website, and his own interests in the short time that he has while Clutch is gone. The fact that he has not decided to reply to any of these accusations, and that he has NOT placed his link in his signature, like he was peaceably asked repeatedly, confirms this in my mind.

If I am wrong about these things, then I am sorry, and I will apologize to TheRocketGuy. But I have never gotten on a junior member like this before unless there was a good reason. I don't haze people or attempt to scare them off because they are new, and I would like to think I have a good reason here.

I know I am not the only one.

Why do the Pacers need to be involved? Why would we take on Croshere's $50 million contract if we could just dump Cato to the Bulls straight up? The Bulls do not need to trade Miller - they can renounce him.

Well, what we could do is a 6 team trade involving Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, and L.A.

Houston sends Cato and Walt and the 18 pick to Dallas.
Houston sends the other 2 picks to Chicago.

Dallas sends Nowitski to Houston, and sends its pick to Washington.

Chicago sends Brand to Houston, and its pick to Washington.

Hakeem agrees to play for Washington, so they send their pick to Philly.

Philly sends Iverson to Houston, and Mutumbo to L.A, to replace Shaq, who the Lakers send, packaged with Kobe, for Jason Collier and Dan Langhi.

    Rockets lineup next season:
Shaq, Brand, Dirk, Kobe, Iverson, with Francis off the bench.

Although this would help us a lot next year, I dont like the idea of sending off our future in Collier and Langhi. When Shaq is ready to retire, both Collier and Langhi will be hitting their peak All-Star years.

While mortgaging the future for the present is not usually the Rockets way, it could pay off next season.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

I appreciate your restraint. The reason I stopped coming here (for the most part) and visiting BTRG's site was because this message board has too many trolls. I'm a Rox fan first and MB community member second. Too many folks get the two things confused.

I had similiar thoughts. Why does it need to be a 3 way deal? If Chicago is not willing to give up the #4 pick, I can't see the need for them.

We could trade Cato to Indiana for Croshere. It doesn't work Cap wise, but neither does the proposed 3 way deal.

However, I would be happy with a Cato/Croshere swap. Croshere does hustle.

I went to his site, too. But then if I only had about 4-5 posts a day, and 4 of them by the same user, the chances of having fewer trolls would be greater. I'm sure you understand the statistics.

This board has fewer trolls than any message board I've frequented of similar size. Just because a board has less trolls does not make that board better. I'd rather be on a board where I'm not talking to myself. But then Bill understands this and that's why he's over here advertising as we speak. But that's just my opinion.

    Runnin Raven -

Let's assume for a minute that I don't have any clue how to make something my "signature." I run or moderate 2 other boards that are similar to this one, but this one doesn't use the same signature system. I am accustomed to simply typing my address after my name. I did not even know that it would include whatever I typed after my name as part of a reply. I am not in the habit of doing the attach quote thing that is so common here.

I am not trying to SPAM, nor am I trying to do something between the lines. I have put off getting involved in this forum because it seems complicated, but I have had some time on my hands and decided to check it out. When smoothie sent me a link to the uniforms, it seemed like a good time. I don't read this site regularly, so I didn't know Clutch was gone, or that his being gone meant anyhting to the board. He is not even listed as the board moderator.

I apologize if I am not doing this right yet, but since everyone has been too busy flaming me to actually tell me how to do it right, I continue to do it the only way I know how.

    Always assume the worst, huh?

I for one am not assuming the worst. The worst happened when you knowingly post off-topic threads like the Astros thread in the wrong forum. What was the point in that? Even after you were told about how serious people were on this board about posting off-topic threads when you started the Comets thread.

But that was just for kicks right?

How would you like it if someone came to your board, and began posting with disregard to whatever etiquette you have on your board?

I knew about you from bskball.com or some other site. I never thought badly about you until you came to this board. Great first impression. I would've gladly come to your board had I even known it existed and helped you start some discussions there, but after the way you've come here with disregard to this board, why bother?

I am sorry if I came off as harsh, The Rocket Guy. If you motives are pure, and you really just don't understand the sig thing, that is fine. The spam accusation was in direct response to the time you typed in a link to your site twice. It seemed excessive and pointless for you to bother the second time, unless you were just trying to get your link up as many times as possible.

Again, if this is not your intention, I apologize. I am going to stop trying to anticipate peoples motives.

So, here is how to fix your damn sig.

See that "Profile" link above the New Topic and Post Reply buttons up at the top of the page? Click on that, and in the window that says, "Signature", place your John Hancock, UBB link, etc, and the Hakeem quote, or whatever you want to be at the end of each post. Then you won't have to type it every time, and when people click on the "reply" button to your posts, it won't copy a link to your site into their reply.

Now you have no excuse to not fix the signature. [IMG]

A thousand apologies. I certainly do not intend to offend anyone or convey any attitude in my responses here.

My intent is to smooth over relations between my two favorite websites. You see, I very much enjoy reading Clutch's copy. The layout and graphics here are just superb. On the other hand, I prefer the set of norms at Bill's board. The level of professionalism expected of posters here is very high. To my way of thinking, there are two results of these demands:

Very high quality material that is (mostly) free of speculation, wagoneering, and SWAGs.

An environment that is hostile to newcomers.

You will note that I registered here before Bill's site even existed. I lurked for months before ever offering anything for fear of the trolls. [quick aside: I am not insinuating you are a troll]

Bill's site was a place that lacked the luster I like so much here but was offset by a very informal approach. His site is ugly [sorry, Bill] but lightening fast and always positive in attitude. His message board is a place Rox fans can just ill together. We don't have to play internal politics, conform to any thread naming standards, or even talk about basketball.

My point [yes, I really do have one :)]
Try not to take us BTRG folks too seriously. We don't take ourselves seriously and that is precisely the charm.

I suppose BTRG actually has MORE trolls than Clutch BBS. The difference is they only come out when someone criticizes a poster for, well, anything. We all agree to disagree unless you disagree about agreeing to disagree, then we have a real disagreement on our hands. Agreed?

    jumper,

Nice reply. I have nothing against anybody that posts there simply because they post there. Who cares? I had no idea Bill even had his own website. This site does have its own little self-policing methods so that as it gets (got) larger, it wouldn't turn into the hell that resembles ESPN's boards. I have nothing against TRG. I have nothing against really anything he types. I didn't jump on him because he's a newbie. I didn't jump on him because he was from a *gasp* rival board. What I did care about was the fact that he came to this board and did not conduct himself according to the rules of this board. "When in Rome, do as the Romans" as the saying goes. He posted an off-topic post and was asked to post it elsewhere. That is the nature of this board. It tends to police itself; it's something just about every newbie gets hit with. He responded by knowingly posting another off-topic post in the same forum. That's foolish and he got and is getting jumped for it.

And don't think this board caters to only those with some great knowledge of basketball or those who can actually add inside information. That's definitely not what's going on here. It just so happens that everyone ends up educating everyone else here and we all learn.

HeyPartner is a play-diagramming freak, and when he's not smoking his crack and spazzing every-so-often, he's a valuable asset to the board in that respect.

aelliot and NIKEStrad are salary cap gurus on this board (as are others). Sometimes I'm baffled as to the level of competence these guys have on the subject.

ZRB is our village idiot and board prom queen (and not as bad as we once suspected).

oeilpere and Doc Rocket are the insiders who apparently have knowledge of the inner-goings-on of the Rockets to a greater degree than any one of us.

I on the other hand really have no purpose on this board and prove it pretty much with every post I generate. (as do Smeg and CriscoKidd).

There are several others that are regulars that feed off the above posters. There are a lot of us that goof off in our posts. My suggestion is don't start a topic unless you know it has substance. If you see 20 Webber threads, don't start a 21st. [IMG]

You said there TRG's board is a place where people can just hangout. That's exactly what the BBS Forum is here for. We talk about everything from Anna Kournikova to Politics to Fix My Computer Help there.

Anyway, again, nice post and feel free to jump in on any thread here... even if you really have nothing to say. Just don't start a stupid one. [IMG]

Oh, and one last thing. Have you ever joined the CC.net chat? If you want to be where things can get wild you ought to join it during the season. It's realtime reaction to Rocket games and running commentary. It's a pretty neat concept. We're having a draft chat on the 27th if you're interested. Although it's probably going to be wild in the chat with as many people as we may have in there. A game chat would probably be more indicative of what it's like, but then that's months away.

We're having chats during the NBA Finals as well.... stop by during one of the games. There're only about 10-12 people in there during any given Finals game.

Without you, DoD, we would have no one to police the chat room, and ZRB would go unkicked during the season. You are a valuable commodity to this website. [IMG]

    Dr of Dunk,

It's all smooth, brother. I'll try to stop by one of the chats sometime if I'm not already knee deep in a dozen AIM and ICQ windows.

What chat client do I need?

You can use any chat client that can hook up to a chat network like efnet, but the easiest way is to go here and use the chat applet :

    http://www.clutchcity.net/chat.cfm

If you want to use a chat client instead, get mIRC.

Nobody cares where you're from. Just join in the chat. The only basic rule in chat is to not flood the channel and cause a riot. Don't start a TRG vs. CC.net war either... [IMG]

It's usually pretty laid back in there and the only people that ever get booted are flooders or people that are there just to start something.

If you want to use mIRC, the server and port info is on that url I gave you.
