Rivers defended both Dame and Simmons very well.

Our entire bench unit did pretty good without Russ and Harden.

Not mad about this loss, except that it's one that we've seen before and we're going to see in the play-offs given:

• some guys were tired, D'Antoni failed to use his bench.
• boxing out, we continuously fail to do so outside of Tucker, Roco and Harden when he's guarding the big in the post.
• we allowed the referees to get into our heads for stretches, thank god Gordon wasn't there, but Harden was looking for fouls and playing to get them.
• we forced up threes early in the shot clock, heavily contested, at times when it was a 1 or 2 possession game, not smart. I know we live and die by the three, but at least be smart about it.
• Westbrook had several possessions where he tried to attack once or twice and then settled on one of his awful no legs flat 2 point shots, sometimes his patented turnaround. Also can that guy work on his FT form? My god, had he made just a few more it would've changed the game.

I sincerely hope that 5th foul, which yes was a foul on Dame first, is not going to be the talk of the day. The referees were awful on both sides, though seemed to lean towards Portland with homecourt advantage - will happen in the play-offs too so a good test - in the first 3 quarters and then tried to make up for it early in the 4th.

I was happy to see that stretch without Westbrook or Harden on the floor, we handled ourselves well. House and Green were great tonight and I see why House has been starting. McLemore needs more shots and Covington needs to learn to pass some of those shots up. In the end though, it was a few mistakes that cost us, but I liked how we locked in again the 4th. It's time we start coming out with that kind of energy and determination in the 1st quarter.

silver has definitely gotten into harden's head. 3 out of 3 games of early foul trouble all on bs fake calls, ever since his 1st Q 23pt explosion. expect tony brothers on thurs

If 6 eyes can't see this, might as well put blind men to officiate. If the refs saw the push and ignored it, they should be fired!

 

Regardless on how this loss happened, this was a expected loss, at least to me. Two big wins against much better competition, a letdown by our players was expected.
