Question doesn't seem D&D material, but I wonder if which parent we were closer to growing up affects what we believe about topics discussed in the D&D. Obviously, a very small sample size, but my guess is most posters are or were closer to their mothers and are more liberal in some part because of that.

I grew up closer to my father. He was my hero in that I looked up to him and wanted to be like him. He passed when I was 13. He was basically a man's man and our family was led by him. My mother more or less kept her same role after. Now that I have my own family, her role is more important to my kids and in some ways my wife.

Did the way I grew up, split in a way with my father passing early, have an effect on my ideas relating to topics around here? I'm not sure.

Also, when I was dating with the intention of finding someone to marry, I didn't take anyone seriously who did not have a great relationship with their father. And, maybe coincidently, all of my closest friends are also close to their fathers.
