I vote for gift certificates from Landrys. I hate being stuck with a bunch of gift certificates to mediocre restaurants that I'm never going to eat at.. Seriously though if the PRC tells the US to shut down a consulate with 72 hours notice our staff would be doing the same thing.
Yes we would. It also has to be hard for other nations in their dealings with the USA because of only having two political parties, and having competitive elections.... nations never know for sure where they stand with the USA... it can change greatly with a regime change. I still think this is escalating though. I know there is a lot of pressure in Western Europe and interests within the USA to at a minimum change relations with China.
Old syllabi, exam answer codes and research grant proposals from the U of H finance department, and orientation packets from every entry level credit analyst program at every local, regional and national bank in the city.
Was that the sequence? ie, (have only seen headlines, been too busy to actually follow any news lately), it seemed the other way: they were burning documents, and then they were ordered to shut down. If it happened the other way around, I agree...burning documents is what any consulate would do.
Some neighbors in Montrose smelled some burnt pangolins in the air so they called the fire department and SPCA
The US government didn't break the news but the PRC announced it. I'm not clear exactly what happened first but I'm guessing that they PRC was informed that the HOuston Consulate had to be shut down by Friday, they started burning documents right away and announced that they were ordered to shut down.
The timing of the news was pretty odd imo. You'd figure the surprise 72-hour shutdown of a major consulate location would be the bigger news compared to reports of smoke coming from the consulate.
I don’t trust them after what they did to the dude. Btw all of them were so good. Especially Goodman and Bridges
