Perry Mason, a new series on HBO. It’s near the end of 1931 and Mason is a private detective struggling to make a living. It’s long before he becomes an attorney. The series is up to it’s neck in film noir and is MA, HBO style. The actor who plays Perry, Matthew Rhys, is tremendous. This has little connection with the series on TV in the 1950’s. There have been 3 episodes so far, a new one every Sunday night. If you don’t have HBO on demand, you can still catch the first 3. They’ve been showing them again during the week. Watch them in order. Fair warning. The violence is brutal. Hell, the sex is brutal. The writing and directing are fantastic. I may run out of adjectives. They spent $74 million making this and it’s there on the screen. Della Street and Paul Drake are in it and, like Mason, they are quite different as well. Some trivia? Robert Downey Jr is one of the producers.
Press on Amazon. Been a while searching for something to sink my teeth in, I am mad that its only 6 episodes. I am still going through my British TV phase.
Yeah, I need to start watching this. Thought this was a fun article: Ranking the Mustaches of "Perry Mason" https://uproxx.com/tv/perry-mason-mustaches/
'The Great' on Hulu. Also, watched 'High Fidelity' series on Hulu. Both are watchable shows that are quite entertaining.
I think it was WHAT? that suggested Warrior Nun, I gave it 20 minutes and I just couldn't bare myself to continue. Somebody else watch it and tell me if it gets better.
I never knew of Mason being a detective . . .it was a surprise I have to check them more. I am pushing through but the protagonist is so annoying . . . . .. I am about 5 or 6 episodes in . . . they blur together I decided to rewatch the series HANNIBAL I finally up to Season 3 I had forgotten were I had left off . . . not realizing that end of Season 2 was the point So it was better to rewatch them all Rocket River
Someone said "Kingdom" a couple of pages ago. I'm hooked and I don't even like MMA. It's a compelling show, more than just drinking protein shakes and boning. Now what I don't understand is how a DIRECT TV show is showing graphic nudity!?? They robbed us from ever seeing Lyla Gerritt or Mrs. Coach in action! I always skipped over Kingdom thinking it was some medieval time piece. Really good show. Please tell me the actor who plays Keith has won an emmy or something. Jinkies.
“Prisoners of War” on Hulu was really good imo. It’s an Israeli show in Hebrew but, even with English subtitles, still draws the viewer in and doesn’t let go. It’s two seasons and a good binge that wraps up nicely. So glad I stumbled upon it.
Finished season 2 of Hanna last weekend have slowly but steadily been watching Pretty Little Liars on HBO Max will be watching Absentia season 3 when it drops this weekend.
That’s a top 10 show for me. And I suppose not typical of the other stuff that would be on my list. There is one particular episode that is one of the hardest (saddest) things I have personally watched. Let’s just say it home in certain ways.
I have watched about 3 episodes of Absentia, I want to like it but somethings off,and everybody is a little too earnest. Does it pick up? It seems there are the bones of a good show.
I just finished watching The Boys and it was better than I expected. I knew what the plot was going into it am pleasantly surprised by how twisted it is. I understand every show has to be dark now but some of the twisted humor of it and it's take on consumerism I liked. @Batman Jones. If you have seen it I'm curious what your take on it as as comic book fan.
