How do you feel when you have to miss a rockets game because of your job?

I must say, I as a Rockets fan have been very fortunate to not miss many rockets games because of work or school activities, and frankly, I hate missing the Rockets play. I'm not used to it. But as I look for a real job now, there are many more non 8-5 jobs available than 8-5 jobs. I'm learning that 8-5 jobs right now are hard to find, and thus may have to settle for jobs in which I have to work into the late evenings and miss Rockets games a lot.

I consider the rockets the fun part of my day, so missing them at times would suck.

    I guess I'm spoiled.

Luckily, Ive never had a job that keep me from watching Rockets.

However, since my kiddo was born, I have found that I have missed more games than I have in the last 15 years combined.

Kids are different though. They are your treasure. Parents enjoy being around their kids. (well normal ones anyway) I'd probably be the same way if I had a child.

When I was in Houston, I had to miss a lot of games because of evening rehearsals. I just taped them and watched them when I got home. If you can avoid televisions, radios and the internet until you get home, it's even better than watching real time. You can skip the commercials and pause to go get a beer whenever you want.

I've missed a few games this year due to school/athletics. The last one I missed got me a little mad. I had a track meet the same day as the Rockets a few weeks ago (March 13). The bad thing about it was that the day wasn't all that great for running with it being wet and muddy everywhere as well as raining during some of the meet. (coincedentally, mostly during MY races). I also screwed up my quads while warming up, hurting all of my races as well as myself. To think, I could have enjoyed the Rockets beating the Grizz instead of pushing myself in pain on a cold, wet day. :(

Its sucks bad. When I first started working back in 2000, I didnt really miss too many games cause I worked part time. Then when i hit college in fall of 2000, I usually missed the Tuesday games in which they played ALMOST EVERY WEEK! But now, its pretty even out. The only ones I cant watch them play is on Monday nights or weekend afternoon games. But I can say that I have indeed asked for days off to watch a few games this year, I usually dont make up the time, but its well worth it for me. I just PRAY they dont play many afternoon weekend games in the playoffs, or Im screwed. :(

JB, I have your cooler, it's in a safe place.

I miss a number of games due to work, but it's all part of the job.

I first started missing games because of work during the 2000-01 season and it sucked hard.

Since then, whatever. I don't think I've seen a full game all season.

I will miss the Rockets when I go to Baylor next year. Well, at least I can catch all the Lakers/Rockets on national tv.

Man, I've only missed a handful of games ever since the '94-'95 season...this will suck. (The Kiss of Death got me hooked on the Rockets)

I've told people at work I had to get home because the Rockets were playing. They all laughed thinking I was joking. All they saw after that was vapor trails of me going home.

I've told bosses I wouldn't be able to stay late or travel due to "having" to be in chat to help moderate. I swear I come up with the craziest stuff just to get a reaction out of people. The looks on their faces are priceless. :D

I'll be missing at least the start of some games here soon since my work schedule will change and I will probably be moving at the end of the year to where I don't have a short trip home.

I absolutely HATE missing a Rockets game.

Couldn't that be considered some type of abuse? I mean, how could you deprive your young'un the joy of watching the Rockets play on tv?? :) The earlier you expose him to the Rockets the less likely he'll become a Mavs, Spurs or Lakers fan. :)

It blows. I miss pretty much every Saturday night game because of my band. Thursday nights too, damn rehearsals. I'm going to miss the first half of the laker game this Thursday.

My VCR has been broken for about 5 years now, but I got a new one for Christmas. I keep forgetting I have it. I'm going to have to start taping the games I miss especially when playoff time comes around.

I really miss the 51 midnight replays. I watched that last year more than I did the live games. I have no idea why they stopped doing that.

I've missed quite a few games this season because of studying for tests, the tests themselves, or because of the lack of coverage. It just makes me that much happier when I DO see them play.

i've avoided this problem by never actually having a job (and with 2 years of grad school coming up i should be dodging that bullet a while longer) but i did miss a ton of games my first 2 years of college b/c i lived in dorms where i couldn't get LP. that's when the game chat became my friend. those were practically the first games i had missed since like 92-93.

now i only miss the first half of games for my wednesday night class from 6-9. which i will be skipping if we have a game tomorrow.

I miss a number of games because of job #2 (i.e. love #1). It just goes with the territory. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and this man's gotta do gigs on nights when the Rockets are playing. That's just the way it is. Look on the bright side...you're getting paid!:)
