I dont know if this belongs in the game thread or not but last night was one of the most electric atmospheres I have felt in the Toyota Center. For the last three minutes it felt like the glory days of old and more recently the first Shaq Yao match-up when Yao blocked Shaqs first 3 shots. Yelling at the top of my lungs and hearing the roar of the crowd gave me goosebumps. I was staring at the Rockets on the court and you could tell that the players were feeling it too. I just wanted to encourage everyone to try to go out and see a game and really create an Arco-type atmosphere. Greatest loss Ive ever been too thats for sure. ;)

I'm all for more exictement in the games and all ...

But do we HAVE to refer to the fanbase as "sixth man?"

That really rubs me the wrong way.

I swear, everytime that dude yells to hear it sixth man, I look down the bench to see who's coming into the game. Then I shake my fist at that gosh darned announcer.

This NBA 6th man of the year award goes to ... the guy sitting in section 214, Row B, Seat 17. Yea!

I wrote a post criticizing our announcer T-Grey earlier in the season. Now I'm writing a post to give him credit for some of the electricity seen in the Toyota Center lately. Obviously there are other factors like the playoffs coming up, and better play from the team, but this guy (T-Grey) is starting to get it together and doing a better job.
I remember where it all started too... I was watching the game on Nat'l Tv, and he started the defense chant, and then the crowd got into their usual casual chant, and then the dude said LOUDER! and the crowd responded and was louder than I've ever heard a Houston crowd in a LONG time. He's doing the job better, so I must change what I said before... the guy is doing a decent job and looks to be getting better.
And for those of you in Houston, please cheer loud. It is so awesome when I hear a booming Toyota Center on the television, the excitement reaches all over the country.

I also noticed the electricity and extra volume from the crowd last night. I haven't heard the crowd like that since the days of Barkley, Drex, and the Dream.

Personally, I don't like it when the dude says LOUDER! It just seems like it's begging and that the fans should just do it on their own.

But I guess whatever gets the crowd pumping, it's all good.

I know those of us at the game felt the excitement, but I was wondering for those who wathced it on T.V. At the end of the 4th quarter, did it sound as booming as we all thought it did? How was it compared to some other stadiums and games you have seen???

I was at the game and it was one of the loudest games I've been too (especially since we never had more than a 2 point advantage over them). Another thing too is that in my section it was mostly women yelling really loud, like screaming at the top of their lungs. The coolest part was when the upper section above one of the baskets was chanting "HOUSTON....ROCKETS......HOUSTON.....ROCKETS". It was great and got the whole stadium going.

P.S. T-Grey's announcing is starting to grow on me.....he can get better of course (like messing up the # of fouls as well as players names in regards to their jersey number), but overall a good job.

The playoffs should remind the fans of Houston about the good ol' days and really get them going not only for thep layoffs, but boost attendance for next season.

As an outsider, I feel that reminding the fans of the playoffs would boost attendance in the next regular season big-time, more than it would for a team who wasn't previously a champion.
