This worked out really well in October 2018 when Republicans - *checks notes* - received a historic beatdown in the House.

I'm sure with the backdrop of Pandemic, mass unemployment, social unrest....it will work almost as well.

Here's a controversial theory. This guy Trump actually ****ing sucks at politics and was the beneficiary of a historic confluence of shittacular coincidence 4 years ago rather than at all good.

The fact that he has and is kind of invalidates your proposition

He could do a lot worse. I'm leaning towards Rice, but I like the character and intelligence of Demings, as well as her personal history..

So what is Biden going to talk about during a rally or during the debates?

How so? A website is one thing but talking about it on the campaign trail is a another...

First the fact that he had a platform, you didn't know about it, yet you're gonna vote for him anyway should be instructive. Most people are voting for him regardless, because he's not Trump and deemed broadly acceptable by mist people.

Second there's not a whole lot of evidence that says being "out on the trail" especially in the middle of a pandemic is a good idea either politically or from a public health perspective. Trump is out on the trail, spreading COVID19 and opening his mouth and letting his Garbage spew out.... and it's burying him.

Most people's minds are made up, and to the extent they aren't is a speech in Des Moines going to do anything?

Things are working now. It's like not shooting 3s because you're making too many.

He can talk about how he differs from trump. He could spend at least an hour just highlighting personal differences. For example, if he just focuses on his marriage... only has had one wife, hasn't cheated on her, hasn't cheated on her with a stripper, hasn't cheated on her with a playboy playmate, hasn't cheated on her while she was home taking care of their newborn child, etc...

Actually, Joe Biden's first wife and infant daughter died in a horrific car accident which injured his two sons pretty badly. The sons recovered, he married Jill 5 years later, and they had a daughter together. His son Beau died of a brain tumor 5 years ago. He looked like he might follow Joe into politics. Biden knows all about personal tragedy. I agree with the rest of your post. He can just talk about his personal history. I think a lot of people could relate to it.

He lost his first wife and his one year old daughter in a tragic car accident (his two sons survived the accident). He lost one of his sons (who was an Iraq war veteran) to cancer. He's the candidate that can empathize with the pain and loss that families are facing right now. Biden is the candidate that took the Amtrak every day from Delaware to DC just so he could be home every night with his family after he lost his wife and daughter. Every time you hear Biden tell his story, you really can't help but shed a tear.

This is an incredibly hard time for this country and Biden has the story and hardship that demonstrates a level of empathy and compassion that is completely missing from the president today.

He doesn't even have to talk about Trump or bring up Trump's family (that can actually backfire badly). Biden can just speak from the heart about his life experiences and the need for compassionate leadership and empathy in a time of crisis. He can talk about the positive achievements of the Obama administration and just remind people that today's government is not how it is supposed work.

Don’t be naive, that’s not how it’s going to go....

Biden is going to have to explain and campaign on his platform at some point.

I am aware of it....you are taking my words too literally.

To clarify, I’m talking about Biden campaigning on his platform.

Yes.... let Trump shoot himself in the foot but that’s not a strategy that’s going to last until November.

They are working now.... what about in a month? What about when there’s a televised debate?

    Don’t assume you’ve already won, that’s stupid.

Biden needs to not say a damn thing.

Meet with groups of voters, influential groups in the areas that he needs support and handle it that way.

When a man is ******** all over the floor, and falling in his own **** and getting it all over her face...... you don't jump in and get **** on you, you take a low profile and let everyone else watch the **** man wallow in his own feces.

You're overselling Biden. His grief is no more valid than anyone else's and doesn't make him more qualified for president.

He's better than Trump. Plain and simple. He's not historically a good candidate (he's a reactionary not a leader) but the bar has been set drastically low.

Agree. Biden's strength is that he isn't Trump.

Napoleon- Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

Biden isn’t a good communicator and is in his best interest to stay low for as long as possible.... But you really think he can play that hand all the way to November?

I don’t. Eventually Biden will have to share a stage with Trump.

To @geeimsobored And to @Deckard thank you both for correcting my knowledge of Biden's marital history (I did know his son died tragically). Perhaps that is why Biden is such a compassionate leader with those that have suffered loss (e.g. when John McCain died). As someone that puts a lot of weight on the personal qualities of a president it would strengthen my preference of Biden over trump. I really get annoyed when I hear someone say ""I would want trump as a neighbor" or "I am not voting for the Pope" when justifying voting for trump.

It depends on the environment. As long as Trump is flailing, yes I believe Biden can keep a low profile. This is an incumbent Presidential election so it is more a judgment on what the people think of the President.

If Biden can stretch this out and let Trump keep flailing until September, October then he is in great shape.

At this point Biden needs to just avoid pissing people off....... there is growing COVID concerns, the economy is not good and there is active civil unrest. Those are all things that Trump has to deal with.

Trump is an incompetent idiot, but they are going to come up with an issue that puts Biden in the spot.

I’m worried too many democrats are getting over confident.
