Trump is trying to get stimulus check voters even after he did not get the second stimulus check passed through.
Actually they have a Dem Sec of State no? I thought KY implemented a massive amount of absentee vote by mail in response to Covid.
No it’s a Republican. The new governor is a Democrat but they don’t really run the elections and he’s probably been dealing with Covid issues mostly. Regardless this looks on its face insanely corrupt. He needs to be more aware of that and use his power as Governor to do what he can to not get rolled by his Republican colleagues.
Right but they delayed the primary and allowed all voters to vote by mail and vote early - this was done as a response to covid. https://wfpl.org/judge-rules-against-lawsuit-calling-for-more-kentucky-polling-places/
You are correct that they did implement a massive amount of absentee voting by mail for the primary elections. But, this isn’t a minor decrease in the number of available polling places. It’s cutting it by 95%.
Right but that was done in response to coronavirus - the idea was that no one would be putting themselves at risk to vote because they didn't have to - they could vote by mail.
Kentucky pushing back their primary and allowing all of their residents to vote by mail are both great things, and kudos to them. However, the problem is that some voters still haven’t received their mail in ballots, and the Kentucky Primary is two days away. Also, having one voting location for a county with more than 600,000 residents is crazy under normal election conditions, but especially during a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic where people are being asked to social distance from each other. That said, to be fair, that voting location is the Kentucky Fairgrounds, with 1.2 million square feet of space. Also, I agree with you that it’s nowhere near as bad as what took place in Georgia and Wisconsin, but I still find it disconcerting. I can understand and support a significant cutback in the number of polling places because of a COVID-19 worker shortage and a substantial increase in voting by mail statewide, but 95% seems excessive to me.
