Well 2016 was the most recent presidential election so it makes sense to look at recent history.

Also Comey and the rest of the Obama Admin. did think that Clinton had it in the bag and part of the reasoning behind releasing info about the Clinton investigation was to make it seem like they weren’t trying to influence the election by withholding potentially damaging information of the next president. It was also why Obama didn’t want to make it know that Trump was also being investigated as he felt certain Clinton would win.

Looking back we can see how those moves had the opposite effect but they were based off of a belief that the election was effectively over after the weekend of “Grab em by the..”

90% of them are full of **** and were always going to vote for Trump.

    They are also trolls.

I am not saying there are not people who will come home, I just think not many and I think the wives you are talking about might be actual secret Biden voters because they are tired of being embarrassed.

I think there might be a huge number of secret Biden voters because at the end of the Day I think a lot of Trump voters are tired of the divisiveness and stupidity and they are not actually getting anything tangible out of Trump anymore.

I would like to hear more about your friends as this goes along, to hear about arguments by spouses make me think I am right.

The big difference this time around is that Trump isn't the challenger but instead in a position where he has to defend this record. Things are worse now than 4 years ago. Biden is a safe choice and most of the electorate knows that.

All Biden has to do is run 1/2 percent better in key battleground states and he wins. The fact that the polls burned people 4 years ago is going to prevent folks from being complacent this time around as well.

Many of the factors helping Trump last time are gone. This is a very different election.

The most recent national election we had was 2018.

Likemost elections since 2016, it was extremely unlike 2016. That trend line has been evident since 2017, and most of those were before the cocktail of Depression, Pandemic, and civil unrest that has unfolded recently.

You and the rest of the "it's 2016 again!" crew remind me of the MSNBC panel (Joe/mika et Al) in the 2017 VA Governor election. They all said this in a memorable segment right on election day where, despite the Democratic candidate leading in all the polls & polling averages for the course of the race, and the Republican candidate running a nonsensical idiotic campaign against MS13, not unlike the caravan nonsense of 2018, they all projected a Republican victory.

Despite all the evidence, the "its 2016 all over again" disease took hold of their brains. They ignored the data and predicted a Republican victory.

Fast forward a few hours later, not only were they wrong, they projected a winner shortly after the polls closed. It was a Democratic blowout. It far exceeded even the most optimistic poll, probably because even the pollsters were overcorrecting. It also signaled the end of Virginia as a purple state. And it has only snowballed since.

Like I said, if fear is what gets us across the line then fine, but this prediction that it's 2016 is unsound.

    It's 2020.

I certainly hope you’re right. My main point is that no one should be complacent. Frankly for those us who want to see trump defeated we should treat this as Biden trailing

As I said last presidential election and as you well know Presidential elections are unlike midterms.

I don’t know if you ever were a coach but one thing good coaches do is they try not to get ahead themselves either way. In fact many coaches always want their team to feel like they are down and even if heavily favored are the underdog. Let’s face it While Democrats had a great year in 2018 there is a long record blowing what seemed liked great opportunities. Heck in 2018 there was a chance of winning the Senate or at least taking both governorship and senate seat in FL. As we know the opposite happened.

Ive put money down on this election to give you a sense of my confidence that said Now is certainly not the time to be planning your inauguration party

No one should treat any election as a given. Especially given what at stake not to mention state and local races.

I agree about not being complacent but I'm not sure anyone here is being that--I think we're just sharing our thoughts and predictions.

If this election is close, it will be decided by the people that were complacent in the last presidential election. I think those people have learned a very expensive lesson and I don't think they'll be complacent again.

I saw in your other post that you'd put money on this election. Assuming you put your money on Biden, I hope it was 4-6 weeks ago when Trump was up 10% in the betting markets, because you'd have gotten great odds then. Ever since, Trump has been on a steady slide to down 9.7, nearly a 20-point turnaround.

    Still, complacent: bad. I agree.

I think that's pretty unfair. This is a tip jar bet so neither of us actually get to see the money and it all goes to benefit Clutch.

He made a tipjar donation in my name and even donated to the fund that I posted to help rebuild Minneapolis. I have no reason to doubt his word and if it comes down to a questionable result I personally still plan to pay Clutch.

This is a man who went through my posting history and dug up my race and then started making comments about my race and culture - I think it's entirely fair to assume he is of low character.

When he was going off about my culture and race, your response was to talk about sitting down to watch as it was going to be good. I lost a of respect for you for that.
