Lol. Most of these same mouthbreathers would be screaming nativist slogans and trying to deport Juan de Oñate were he standing there. But they're going to try to murder people to protect his statue

What do you do when the people you hate, also hate the other people you hate? Its hatefusion. So much hate, not enough people to direct it at.

This was inevitable, and will keep happening.

Yes....... just trying to avoid a high fatality outcomes. The FBI is pouring man hours into keeping the extremists from going on a bender....... but all it takes is 3-4 extremists with weapons to open fire....... and then there to be return fire.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoma_Massacre

When New Mexico celebrated the 400th anniversary of his arrival, someone cut the right foot off the statue and left a note saying "fair is fair".

    Acoma War[edit]
In October 1598, a skirmish erupted when a squad of Oñate's men demanded supplies from the Acoma Pueblo, although the Ácoma themselves needed their stored food to survive the coming winter. The Ácoma resisted and 11 Spaniards were killed, including Oñate's nephew, Juan de Zaldívar.[14] In January 1599, Oñate condemned the conflict as an uprising and ordered the pueblo destroyed, a mandate carried out by Juan de Zaldívar's brother, Vicente de Zaldívar, in an offensive known as the Acoma Massacre. An estimated 800-1000 Ácoma died in the siege of the pueblo, and the 500 survivors[15] were put on trial and sentenced by Oñate. All men and women older than 12 were enslaved for 20 years. In addition, men older than 25 (24 individuals) had one foot amputated.[16][17]

Maybe the "don't erase the history" crowd doesn't really know the history of these butchers and murderers with statues.

He treated everyone with kindness, respected their lives and treated them as equals. He was a very fair and generous benevolent governor of all the people he was busy treating so well.

I've been super nervous that a large scale shootout would erupt at some of these protests.

Right wing or left wing, doesn't matter. A bunch of agitated, nervous citizens and cops, all armed, together in tight quarters.... it just feels like a new Boston Massacre waiting to pop off.

    So he founded Sante Fe?

    Later life[edit]
In 1606, Oñate was recalled to Mexico City for a hearing regarding his conduct. After finishing plans for the founding of the town of Santa Fe, he resigned his post and was tried and convicted of cruelty to both natives and colonists. He was banished from New Mexico for life and exiled from Mexico City for 5 years.[29]

Eventually Oñate went to Spain, where the king appointed him head of all mining inspectors in Spain. He died in Spain in 1626. He is sometimes referred to as "the Last Conquistador."[30]

Everyone seems stupid in this situation. But from the video footage, you can see the shooter clearly retreating only to be charged by two people who tackle him to the ground. After getting up is when he shoots one of them. So legally speaking, was he not retreating at the time and acting in self defense?

I think the power rankings on who is most likely to shoot is:
    1. cops
    2. white ppl w guns
    3. protestors
But we'll see how things shake out over this week's matchups.

Nothing on Fox News website. I guess we need more coverage of the violent occupation of Seattle.
