According to Channel 13, The alleged indecency occurred in Harris County over a period of several years, Rosenthal said. The charges involved five girls under 17 and the alleged conduct occurred between May 1988 and April 1991, according to the Harris County district clerk's office. According to an affidavit by Drew Carter of the Texas Rangers, the five daughters said Murphy either fondled them, performed oral sex or both. -------- I really hope none of these things are true as well. The thing that doesn't look good for Murphy, is that the five girls are from 3 different mothers. I'd assume it was extortion, if it came from one mother, but three? There is a huge problem with this behavior in our country. I've spoken with women who tell me that half of the women they know have been either raped or molested, and often by family members. A sad state of affairs in our country. If he DID do this, I hope he is made an example of, so others fear consequences. If he DIDN'T do this, I hope the truth somehow comes out, with someone confessing this was for extortion, because this becomes a terrible stigma almost impossible to shake, and grossly unfair.
Like everyone else, I'm in stunned disbelief. I'm watching this game like I'm in the Twilight Zone or something. I'm going to believe it is something like ima_drummer posted until it's proven otherwise. Murph is part of the heart and soul of the Rockets. I just don't believe this.
First of all, lets get one thing straight. We as fans do not know these TV, Sports or Political figures. We only know what they portray in public. Murphy's case will be decided in the courts. It absolutely amazes me when people fall into the trap of Television. Some of these guys are no different than the Meth lab or Crack guys. I hope this is not true, but if it is, LET JUSTICE BE SERVERD.
I am deeply saddened, but accusations of this magnitude are not spur of the moment decisions, especially in high profile cases. Unfortunately, these charges are likely well supported or they would never have been made. That makes me even more despondent. Makes basketball seem trivial.
How would they get evidence in a case that is over 10 years old? Surely they would need more than simply the word of these people.
it was his daughters that accused him; maybe they decided to finally come out or they are just BS cause they dont like their dad.
I was thinking the same thing. Fourteen kids, three different wives, jealousies, alimony, etc... Just seems like there are too many open-ends on this. It would be too easy for some of his kids (now an adult) to use this accusation to tear Calvin down. At the very least attack his character in the media. We'll just have to wait and see. Sad news....
I remember that one of Calvin's wives was killed in a car accident back in the 90s. Happened over near Highway 6 north of Surgarland. I found it odd that he was back to being on the air in just a day or so.
Faos, I was just saying, it would be easy for some of them to use this to "get back at him." By the way, it was five of his daughters. Not fourteen. We don't know the details of this case yet; motives, jealousies, revenge, debt, money, etc...we just don't know. Lets wait for the case to happen before we call him guilty as charged. "Sheesh!"
I meant 14 kids as in the number of children he has. I don't know about you but that's a lot. Sheesh! You are correct, it was "only" five daughters who are claiming this happened. And I have not charged him guilty.
Fourteen aint that many, there's a blues musician screaming Jay Hawkins and fifty seven children. Capturing the Friedmans is an appropriate documentary for this topic.
I remember he said "I like being with young kids"...i think in the Toronto game and he explicitly says hi to his daughters maybe it's true after all
do you think Clutch will make such a joke at the expense of someone's reputation...i mean we're talking about serious matter here
