damn.... again, I hope its not true Calvin was the one broadcaster that actually made me want to tune in to the rockets, ESPECIALLY during their 4 or 5 year streak of missing the playoffs. Calvin was the entire reason (calvin and bill really) that I watched the rockets thru their ****ty seasons. Hope once more that Calvin isn't guilty of these accusations..... can only hope though.
This was just on Ralph Cooper's KCOH radio internet broadcast. KCOH is located at 1430 AM in Houston and offers a streaming broadcast over the Internet, unlike SportsRadio610. Murphy is being accused of sexual contact with 5 of his daughters during a period from 1988-1991. The Harris County DA will file 3 charges. Bail is to be set at $90,000. Murphy has retained Rusty Hardin who previously defended Eddie Griffin and Warren Moon as his defense counsel. That's the gist of it so far. Murphy has taken a leave of absence from Rockets TV broadcasts.
Channel 13 just announced that Murphy just turned himself in minutes ago. I can't believe it. I first met Calvin when I was in 4th grade (back in the late 70's) and he came to our school and signed autographs. He was so nice and I have talked to him a number of times since then. I have never seen him be anything but loving to kids and I think that we should definitely take the wait and see approach.
Well, please forgive my harshness. Calvin, Rudy and the Dream are my three Rocket heroes. I'm a little bit on edge over this allegation.

I love Calvin as a broadcaster and he will be terribly missed. I live out of town and my eyes light up everytime I find out they are taking the Houston feed on League Pass. As much as I like him as a broadcaster, I will have to wait and see before I make any judgement as to if he was wronged or not. As much as I want to believe in my heart of hearts that he did nothing wrong, I just have a very sick feeling in my stomach. Say it aint so Calvin
I joked to my wife that Calvin has so many kids, he probably didn't know it was his. I refuse to believe this has any merrit. I'm gonna bet that this has something to do with an alimony or child support case, because Calvin really does have a lot of kids. He and Bill joked about it on a broadcast once.
Tim: I believe the consensus of the board is for Matt Bullard as the interim replacement for Calvin. The Rockets will have a palace revolt if Cooper is named. We all hope these allegations are not true. If that is the case, well, that is why I am using the term "interim."
Very suspicious. If this was a cut-dry molestation case, no way in hell the DA would be dropping hints that "Murphy could be eligible for probation if he is convicted." His priority would be jail-time, and a lot of it. I'm definitely going to reserve judgement on the seriousness of the charges.
