No reason to ever watch A&E again either. No Live PD, station gone.

Rocky IV is the best movie for this time

A white Italian guy avenges his black friends death
Which is really his fault for not throwing in the towel after Apollo got hit in the head 100 times in a row
By beating a russian dude in russia
Then the Russians started cheering him

Yea, I'm not sure where we are all heading with regards to historical figures, statues, movies etc.. etc... I don't have any problem with the removal of Confederate statues. What I'm thinking about now though is how far these movements/sentiments go?

If you really do a deeper dive into the attitudes/sentiments of most of America's venerated historical figures you will find incredibly racist/bigoted/all types of prejudiced attitudes.

“I will say, then, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races—that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this, that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I, as much as any other man, am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”

    Abraham Lincoln - 1858

I'm sure most people aren't familiar with that quote. What if they were?

People need to understand that Black people aren’t stupid
Which is the point of the video . He said we (as a black person himself) Are not dumb and understand that this movie came out in the 1930s and is the way it is.

Look, I loved Rocky IV too, espeically since it tools on Russia very hard, but it's also ok, to, you know, be a ****ing adult and see the theme of mighty whitey coming to black man's rescue (by copying, and since he's white, improving, his style, remember Rocky 3 he learned how to box "black" in order to beat Clubber Lang ) as anything but constructive today.

I watched the first 6 minutes. I got the message. I'm just speculating as to where the type of attitudes/sentiments we are seeing now will lead.

As I said in the cartoon thread I don't think we should do away with these type of media. That said I'm not all that comfortable with just showing them again for entertainment value. When I first saw Breakfast at Tiffany's my reaction was similar to Bruce Lee's. This was in the 90's long after it had come out.

HBO as a private company can show what they want but I think if they don't want to show with Gone with the Wind or show it their should be some context with it. Perhaps a double bill of Gone with the Wind and 12 Years a Slave.

The black guy in the video said he found it insulting that Hollywood thinks black people can’t figure out that the movie was a period piece

hbo max is a steaming service so why would they put two movies as one ?

Nobody has to watch this movie they don’t want to , there’s plenty of other stuff to watch on that service.

I don’t even know where it was on the charts for streaming before they removed it

Gone with the wind is about the south during slavery

so Is every movie about that time period going away ?

    This movie is dirt old
Are they going to put context on Charlie Chaplin movies that there’s no sound and no Dolby atmos remix with director’s commentary ?
The director of 12 years a slave hates gone with the wind but he said he’s definitely against censorship

Dude, just because you found a black guy that said something doesn't mean anything. Public opinion is by consensus, not by the black guy with the YouTube channel.

I picked the video cause i thought his video was the most interesting of the topic. Wasn't randomly picked, I like this dude's channel. He's funny.

His point was that not everyone has the same opinion. And that it wasn't Black people weren't the ones who made the call the removal of this movie.

What consensus? I didn't even know anyone was watching this movie on HBO Max. I was watching Looney Tunes.

And nobody is moving my threads, friend.

I specifically said they should not go away. I said I'm comfortable with the racist depictions of characters even in period pieces. I understand they are period pieces but just laughing at a very racist stereotype that Mickey Rooney is playing does make me uncomfortable even knowing was made in the early 60's. It is about understanding context.

    I agree, that was terrible.

I think for Gone with the Wind that was the movie where the first African American won an Oscar.

I also think people watching these really old movies aren't very young people as mentioned in the video.

I'm pretty sure the demand for Gone with Wind is now going to up on other platforms because of this news, from like
5 people watching it to 50K
