Barr Confirms Details That The Clearing Of Lafayette Park Was Unrelated To Church Photo Op:
    https://jonathanturley.org/2020/06/...rk-clearing-was-unrelated-to-church-photo-op/

    excerpt:

. . . there continues to a common narrative being promulgated on the photo op. There are various investigations being demanded and we will likely get more information on whether Barr is outright lying on these details. However, it would be perfectly insane to do so when you are citing Park Police plans that will be available to Congress and the public in time.

trump's campaign must have seen these declining numbers and jumped right into action... while also attending fundraising dinner at a private home; the price of admission has been reported by local media as $580,600 per couple.

Had to launch in incognito to watch it, but it's a pretty good reconstruction.

I was in London in the fall just when the Extinction Rebellion was having large protests there. Mostly peaceful on both sides. The organizers were pretty good about coaching protesters to do highly annoying things that would get them arrested, but to avoid things to get them beaten up. I remember thinking I would not try this stuff at home. They'd do stuff like superglue themselves to a building or the pavement, knowing the London police would get the solvent and carefully remove them. They would handcuff themselves to each other, with the cuffs inside metal pipes so they can't be easily cut. I think it is amazing they trusted London police not to beat the crap out of them.

But aside from being maximally annoying, Extinction Rebellion did a pretty good job of organizing protesters to keep each other safe (organized into platoons, and used a buddy system), to not cross lines that will invite violence from the police, and to respect rules that will minimize public resentment (they pitched tents all over the closed streets, but they left the sidewalks and crosswalks open to pedestrian traffic). I think having organizers like that at protests is pretty important, both for keeping it nonviolent ("don't throw s---!") and to keep people safe when the riot police decide to do something dangerous ("Move back, they're using pepper balls."). Organizers are easily branded "antifa" by Trumpers, but we need those guys there to channel the energy and not leave the protest to devolve into a riot or a panicked stampede.

On the debate of whether they cleared LaFayette Park for the photo opp or for the additional barrier fencing: who gives a crap?

It is quite possible, I suppose, that they planned to clear the park for the fence and Trump saw that and decided -- immediately -- that he may as well use that opportunity to violate curfew and head over to the church. I mean, that's not really what happened, but fine, give him the benefit of the doubt. That means LEO tear-gassed and assaulted peaceful protesters before curfew with no cause and no meaningful warning just so they can put up a fence. Is that better? The photo-opp element of this story does highlight how capricious, unfeeling, and dictatorial Trump is, but the really bad part is how riot police assaulted protesters. And that still happened.

This is what trump tweets out about his ordering the gassing of Americans peacefully expressing their constitutional right to free speech... in front of a church, just so he could get a photo op?
