Of course they didn't but I'm pissed off in general...and this is the D&D. I don't reside in Minneapolis thank God but if their reasoning for leaving is because rioters burned down their building that could have happened anywhere...there are/were riots all around the country. If anything I would think they'd want to stand by the community and help make the best out of a bad situation. Leaving because of this seems like bad PR on top the chain of negative events that have occurred in Minneapolis.
And you're taking that out on a business that had nothing to do with the reasons for the protest and then expecting them to stick around after a community that they were part of for years burned them down and failed to save them. Also what does "People over property" even mean exactly? I heard a lot of people say that regarding the riots as though somehow burning and destroying property is some sort of binary choice.. It's like we need to loot and burn Minnehaha liquors to save people..
You can rebuild that damaged building, insurance will cover that. Floyd's death...well there's no insurance policy I know that'll bring him back from the dead. Looting and burning seems to come with peaceful protests. That element is something I will never agree with, nevertheless I'll take it if it means major change occurs in the country as far as how the police operate.
Fat chance that Chauvin is getting off. He's going to have a rough sentence too. His best bet is keep punching a guard and stay in lockdown. I really don't see him ever walking out. He will die because of old age, suicide or killed behind bars. Now the n00b cop that was working his 4th day on the job.... I don't think people will be happy with the sentence. Here is how his lawyer is going to play his cards (from the NY Post): “When he’s holding his legs, he says to Chauvin, ‘Well, shall we roll him over because he says he can’t breathe?’ Chauvin says no,” Gray said. “Now, if you’ve ever been in the military, you ask your sergeant should we do something and he says no, are you going to say, ‘Well no, I’m going to do it anyway’? I don’t think so,” Gray stressed.
I don’t think he’ll get off, but he had better get the maximum penalty we’ll see with the other three I think that defense is some BS...if u see someone committing a clear injustice, u should be able to step in and stop it, but unfortunately, that’s the not the culture The man had his knee on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes. I can understand a civilian not pushing the cop off since “assaulting an officer” could lead to their death, but the cops? How do u just go along with something this cruel?
And burning 7-Sigma will bring him back from the dead? 7-Sigma probably has insurance but many of these businesses did not or were under insured. Many insurance policies don't cover arson. I saw an interview with Killer Mike a few nights ago and he said the same thing. He said that his properties had insurance so its not a big deal if some businesses get destroyed. For a guy that came up from poverty that is shockingly out of touch.. I understand and am angry myself that George Floyd died horribly and justice needs to be done. I understand black people have been oppressed for a very long time. That doesn't mean it's right to burn, destroy and take away the livelihoods of people who had nothing to do with that. In many cases who are black themselves and or others who have suffered discrimination. I mean if someone beats me up does it make sense I go and rob and burn my neighbor's house? This is one of the biggest problems with this whole situation. That so many cannot call out the destruction for the wrong that it is. That somehow we either stand against police brutality or that we believe looting and burning is bad. Both are horrible and we shouldn't justify or excuse one because of the other.
I just saw and thank you. As you can tell I'm very angry regarding what is happening to my neighborhood and this city. I was angry over George Floyd's death and am very angy about the destruction.
The moves the cops used was like old school wrestling. Vince McMahon would be ready to sign them dude's to major contracts!
Looks like segregation was never off the table huh. My beliefs are irrelevant before the face of inevitability. Their demands:
