I work on the route. It was pretty convenient for the Astros parade.

Nobody came in today... well, a couple people... traffic was noticeably lighter. I'll try and get out of here by 1 and watch the event on the news.

Man I hope it's peaceful. My realtor girlfriend has a closing down off Washington not far from HPD hq. Luckily her client is HPD. Hopefully they can get it done and get out easily.

I'll skip work and go march. Trump is making me want to go protest at night though.

I hope it’s only Houston people and Texas at the march.

    Remembering Big Floyd

HIS SIZE MADE HIM IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS, but in the community he grew up in, it was his heart—and his fearless freestyling—that made him impossible to forget.

A single phrase keeps being used to describe George Floyd, the 46-year-old black man and native Houstonian whose killing by Minneapolis police on Memorial Day sparked global outrage and protests across the country.

“‘Gentle giant,’ that’s what everybody called him,” says Houston rapper Cal Wayne, who describes Floyd as his adopted brother. “What made him so special was the way he treated people. Nobody could hate him. Anywhere we ever went, I’ve never seen anybody mad at him.”

It's not all sunshine and rainbows. HPD police radio has multiple people throwing stuff, groups blocking roads, etc, etc

I failed. I came late into downtown from I-10 with my daughter while my wife came via 59. She didn't have much trouble getting there. But I found the entire downtown area bisected by police barriers and all the parking on the north side either already taken or vacant and closed (or illegal parking, but I wasn't going to do that with my daughter in tow). Underground theatre district parking all closed. I talked to one attendant of a parking structure who told me they were closed to "protect the value of their investment." Which is understandable, but it means thousands and thousands of parking spots not available. Faced with parking and other problems besides I eventually gave up and went home. I wonder how many more people would have been there had the parking been available. I saw people commendably walking from well outside of downtown to get there, but I'm sure plenty of people also gave up like me.
