Exactly. If you don't find originality in movies today, you're really not looking all that hard.

    passion of the christ... original.

i do agree somewhat though... blockbusters these days are like x-men 2, or spiderman 2, and there's tons of movies like honey and you got served, remakes like havana nights, bad sequels like barbershop2. not all of them are bad, like starsky and hutch was good... but you know it's repetitive. hellboy... haha (still going to see it though)

meanwhile, mr. paige is right. a lot of good movies are based off books. like cold mountain, master and commander.

    good, original screenplays are rare.

Right now I'm replacing all the valves and upgrading the springs in the Cobra heads I'm installing.

    Sorry to derail the thread.

I saw this movie. I wouldn't call it great, or even all that good, but it was fun.

I was in a really ****ty mood and decided to go see the movie. I used to watch WWF (yes.....now quiet you!) and Rock was one of my fav "characters". I went to see The Mummy 2 almost just because he was in it, then felt screwed when he was just a CG model.

Anyway, then I saw Scorpion King and he rocked in that, he rocked in The Rundown too. Walking Tall is my least fave of the 3. Although, I wouldn't rule out watching it again.

Also, I need to get me one of those 4x4s (and I don't mean the truck :p)

Man you are getting my back in all sorts of movie threads these days. ;)

Paige - Mystic River was an adaptation of a book, but I think the others are original. Are they not?

yipengzhao - Are you blind? I just rattled off several amazing original screenplays in the last year or so. Did you even read my post?

come on paige, don't you know that when it comes to movies, and hell everything in life to hear people talk, it was better "back in the day."

everyone just always likes to lament the fall of everything from when they grew up while it's mostly never true.

3 other things i'd like to address:

How can the other professionals involved in this movie debase themselves by working with such a terrible script?

b/c money talks. i used to wonder how all the adult actors on Full House could look at themselves in the mirror, but then i grew older and wiser and realized if i was getting paid what they were probably getting paid (considering the success of the show) i'd put on a clown costume and let them hit me in the face with pies for 30 minutes a week if they told me to.

man, i may have to take a shower to clean all the snobbishness from that post off of me.

Why would a casino sell drugs to the Rock's brother or do anything else illegal? It's a casino, a money-making machine

b/c money talks and the only thing better than money is more money.

"you know smithers i'd give up all my money for a just little bit more."

Ditto here. I like action movies, but not ****ty boring "action" movies, which seems to be the Rock's specialty so far.

So far, his work isn't much better than Dolph Lundgren trash.

The last movie Rock did with Christopher Walken was pretty good. Critics seemed to like it.

Looking forward to seeing him in the Get Shorty sequal Travolta and Uma Thurman.

I was actually interested in this movie...until the end of the trailer when he did that bit where he busts out the guy's tail light...

I mean, c'mon! I'm not expecting Citizen Kane dialogue or anything, but that has to be the cheesies, most overused gag in film history...

    He-Man > than The Punisher.

And speaking of movie travesties, the new punisher flick looks really bad as well.

Tell me about it. I can't believe they couldn't even make the trailer look decent.

On the other hand, the trailer for "I Robot " starring Will Smith looks good. I just watched it over at the Quicktime movie trailers site. Anyone know much about this upcoming flick?

Don't know about the movie, but I really loved Asimov growing up. His Foundation series and I, Robot; man, the memories...

i really liked the rundown and even though i don't enjoy wrestling at all, i think the rock as an actor is pretty entertaining. so ill probably end up seeing this movie.
