This successful launch by NASA simply highlights the perils of fully independent private space initiatives. RIP to those lost in the Space X tragedy yesterday in South Texas.

So the plan now is to rendezvous with the Tesla in orbit and drive that over to the ISS?

Yes, but first the Tesla has to recharge, then they should be good to go.

Am I the only one that thinks going full touchscreen is a recipe for disaster? Never trust tech too much when it comes to extreme situations.

They have the touchscreen crew displays where they are able to monitor/command every system operating the vehicle. There is also telemetry that is down-linked to the the ground where the subsystem experts are also monitoring data, and the subsystem experts have the ability to command the vehicle if something has to be corrected. Most of the systems are designed for autonomous operation with very little crew input.

The only black person at mission control is the security guard. Just sayin. That ain't right.

Bit weird to compare me posting on cf while lying on the couch vs a crew navigating a highly explosive 1.2mil lb heavy rocket in space.
