Agreed. As the famous saying goes, “it’s the economy stupid”. Only redeeming quality from Trump’s time in office was that unemployment was low prior to covid. If I’m Trump’s campaign team I’m focusing on that and policy objectives. Not saying Trump can accurately sell the economy as his achievement, because Biden can counter by saying that Obama-era policies ushered in improvement. It’s a perception battle and Trump’s only viable angle.

Making this a race about character, integrity, sexual conduct, honesty, etc is simply a losing battle for Trump and his supporters. It would be too much for anyone here to give in and concede that there could some impropriety going on. I'll put odds at 50/50....being there is something to it, or there aint.

So, I expected to hear more Joe/Ukraine stuff from the right, but I figured it would be later, closer to the election. I'm sure they have scripted playbook of when these things come out or are leaked out (damn leakers!!!... no, seriously!). This being dropped in May and will be forgotten in June, especially when the most important news item is the COVID pandemic. As much as folks believe that Durham is Trump's political errand boy, I don't think so. The right is upset with Wray and to some extent Barr because they want blood. They want charges. But I don't think anything is really going to happen as far criminal charges, unless it's to a low level official. The powerful protect their own. I fully expect the Lindsey Graham show to just be going through the motions to appease the constituents on the right.

Daria Kaleniuk, director of Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Action Center, said that under Ukrainian law, anyone could go to court and demand that the SBI open a case. If a court approved it, the SBI was required by law to do so, even if officials did not believe there was enough evidence.

“The fact that it was opened after a decision of the court indicates that first the SBI didn’t open this case, but the attorneys of Shokin made the SBI open this case,” she said.

“Let’s say I can write a claim to the SBI that I think aliens stole my car,” she continued. “And the SBI obviously will not open [a case] as there is not evidence of a crime. But then I can go to court and make the SBI open it, through a court decision. So this case looks to me like that.”

She said it was possible for the case to lie dormant in the system for years.
