Anybody seen it? Big Kevin Smith fan and came out the theater liking this movie. Ben Affleck needed a good performance and good friend Kevin came to the rescue. For those who dont know, its basically a movie about a widowed father (who yes, J.Lo is the wife that dies barely 5 mins after the credits say "Written & Directed by Kevin Smith" ) who has trouble with the life he is having now with his 7 year old daughter and his aging father, in which Geroge Carlin gave a great performance. Smith got away with ALOT of things for this being a PG-13 movie but shows you why he is a great writer. Anyways, I would reccommend this movie anyday.
Wow, I guess I am the only Kevin Smith fan on this site. Although I remember someone posting a thread about his "An Evening with Kevin Smith" DVD, which was an entertaining 4 hours there.
in all honesty, I didn't even know this was a Kevin Smith film. no one can save this film from bombing at the box office, even if it says "Directed by Kevin Smith." the last horrible chapter of the "Bennifer" saga will be an ugly one, though not as ugly as "Gigli". J-Lo is treated like the plague, poor girl. she gets no publicity, and they edit her out of the whole movie almost entirely. before the "Bennifer" fiasco, she would have got more screen time as well as publicity, instead she gets the shaft 'cause its an Affleck vehicle. not that I care either way, just wanted to throw my two cents in
My devotion to Kevin Smith films will probably overpower my hatred for Jen & Ben. I'll probably go see it.
Actually, that was the whole point of the movie, they wanted to make it where it was a shock value where she does pass away in the first 15 mins. Liv Tyler was casted before JLo was and that was the intentions the whole time. Her scenes wasnt cut, that was the plan all along. They even made "fake" scenes to put in the trailer to make it look like she was a major part of the movie. But since Gigli broke out, they were happy enough to say that she is barely in the movie for the time she was. She does a good performance for the time she was in it, but in all honesty, anybody couldve played her role.
Why don't people like Ben Affleck? I saw him on Larry King the other day and he seemed like an alright guy. Down to earth, modest, wasnt afraid to laugh at himself. I don't get the hate guys. ????
Thumbs up. Somewhat derivative (c'mon, haven't we seen enough of the "rushing to the school play" thing?), but still fun. Smart dialogue, good acting, and it actually looks pretty good. If the fans can pull in their "married friends," it might have some legs.
I like Kevin Smith movies. But it saddens me to think this is what he directs now. Things always change though.
Its gotta be better than "Silent Bob and Jay Save The World", or whatever that disappointing piece of crap was called. I loved Dogma and Clerks.
Like Troy McClure, I too must question the immense hatred towards Affleck. Is it pure jealousy or what? From all the TV interviews I've seen of him, he seems like the most level-headed, down to earth, normal celebrity to walk the face of this earth. He seems like a cool guy that loves to be "just one of the guys" with his buddies, rather than a snooty celeb. Plus he knows his sports and is a diehard Red Sox fan. What's to hate here? And why wish death?
Kevin Smith has gotten older, you can't expect him to make dick and fart joke movies forever. Anyways, his next project is already confirmed, he's making the Green Hornet movie. Jake Gylanhall seems to already be the Green Hornet. No word on Kato. This movie was actually in the works years ago with George Clooney as the Green Hornet and Jet Li as Kato.
BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- What began as a cute idea for a cameo isn't so cute now to Ben Affleck. When Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were together romantically, the "Good Will Hunting" star convinced J.Lo to appear in his film "Jersey Girl," playing the mother of his daughter for 12 movie minutes. Then came the "Gigli" debacle and the Bennifer breakup. "I feel vaguely bad because I was someone who said to Jen, 'Oh, come do this small part. It'll be fun,' and we got nothing but trouble for it," Affleck told the Boston Herald in Sunday editions. The former couple's relationship complicated many aspects of the picture. Lopez was removed from all publicity and their on-screen wedding scene was cut.
Ben Affleck is a horrible actor. He's only good playing a character that is exactly like himself. He has Kelvin Cato range. No depth. That said, he seems very likeable and is probably one of the least pretentious celebrities in Hollywood.
