Just pick, NO roll, again and again. I am tired of that. When can they play complete pick and roll like Malone and Stockton did?
Allthough the opponents have regarded Yao as a machine-gun. After pick, Rockets guards are used to forgetting the center immediately and shooting by themselves, with a lot missed. At the moment, Yao is nothing but a 7'6" shelter in their view.
To play effective pick and roll, Rockets guards have to discard pseudo pick and roll on their brain, and wisely choose pass or shot. Yao need to move actively and get position down low.

Our guards do not know how to play the P & R the right way...never had the ability, and never will...ever. Period.

It's not just Yao, it's MoT and Cato as a picker also.

Last year, there were no picks and plenty or joint rolls with Griff and Mo.

Earlier in the season and late last year, there were no picks nor rolls (with Yao's weak screens).

Right now there are picks but no rolls.

Next year I predict no picks and plenty of rolls for MoT again. (Or yao might buy a rolls royce?)

    Boy are we bipolor!

Baron Davis said we're the best Pick n Roll team in the NBA.

We just haven't been doing it well the last couple of times and you make it seem like we've been having this problem all season.

The Rockets do not always use the pick and role as a means to score. It is usually used as a way to get certain players in certain positions on the court. For instance to get Yao to the post or Mo to the high post or Mobley to the wing.

Why don't players call it the "pick and choose" instead of the "pick and roll?" Referring to the play as the "P&C" makes more sense because, after the pick, a choice must be made by the ballhandler -- shoot, drive or pass to the open man. It's time we made this play our own rather than emulate the Jazz.

Wasn't Baron saying that we were the best Pick n Roll defending team in the NBA. Sounds a bit more realistic.

I don't like it when Yao is constantly running around at the 3pt line, setting picks. Sure, he's big, but he doesn't get the ball much outside, and he usually has to run back in for a putback or rebound. That's a lot of running for Yao to do. He rarely can get inside position for a rebound chasing the guards to the hoop, much less get the ball on the cut.
Do you see Shaq running around much outside the paint? Nope. I see no reason to run Yao that way. I doesn't utilize him in the offense, hinders him for the rebounds, and runs him tired.
Why can't Mo Taylor, or Cato, or whoever the PF is, play that role instead?

I agree with you. PF can be the prior choice for P&R, then Yao.

Of course, P&C is the right way. But our guards always tend to shot by themselves. In fact, they have been playing P&S, pick and shot. If this is the way our own, I'd rather emulate the Jazz or whichever team can score by a right way.
