lnghrn.. I just now saw your question to me.. Yes I go there now. Also if you do get accepted they will invite you to an open house up here in april.. (at least they did when I was).. just thought i'd throw that out there.. I don't know if you want to visit before or after you find out about acceptance
i got accepted and went to that stupid thing at the hotel in the galleria....waste of time, your already accepted there who care....but then again I am at UT so....
Make it 2 for 2. Got accepted to UGA, but it is falling out of my realm daily. I sent it in a month early because I was under the impression the aplication would be considered for the honors program or some type of scholarship. I guess I decided that if I wasn't getting a scholarship from UGA I probably wouldn't go. I don't think I deserve one either; one of the reasons I didn't apply to more than one scholarship programs was that I feel there are other people that need the money and I don't consider myself a very hard worker. There are some fine women in Athens I'm told. As it stands: Tulane > UGA And congrats to others for their future or whatever.
When I first went to College I applied to like 5 schools. I got rejected by UT and A&M, accepted at TCU, Saint Marys (presidential Scholarship), UH. TCU was the last one I applied to, and was the one I was first accepted to.
Well if anyone gets into Harvard or MIT, I could show you around if you visit. and we can talk Rockets! Could also do an okay job of showing you around Northeastern, BC, BU, or Wellesley haha... but word to the wise. don't major in biochemistry unless you really like working in a lab. i'm doing my senior thesis now and man it's really kind of lonely when you have to stay there and work on step after step after step. although... during the incubations you have nothing to do so you can boost your post count like i'm doing.
I was accepted at the Kellogg School of Management yesterday (that's the business school at Northwestern). I have a tough decision to make on whether I want to go there, UT or Harvard (pending aceptance there...).
I'm about to finish up my Sophomore year of college (last day is like the 30th of April) and when I was a senior I applied to UT-Austin, U of Arkansas (Fayetteville), and the University of Central Arkansas (applied to this one as a joke/to get my guidence counselor to STFU) and got accepted to all 3. I ended up going to Central Arkansas because I got a full scholarship (definitely not because of my love for Scottie Pippen)...I have enjoyed my time at college enough, but I kind of wish I would have gone somewhere like UT or even applied somewhere in California and pushed my parents to just pony up the money for somewhere better than Central Arkansas... I enjoy the school and have had some really kick ass professors (including this Spanish professor who said she failed Matt Maloney when she was a graduate teacher at Penn), but I just don't like being in Arkansas. Right now i'm a 4.0 student, and I'm hoping I can finish with a strong enough GPA to get accepted to some good graduate schools in bigger cities/better part of the country. My advice to anyone here is that, if your financial situation allows you to go to any place you're accepted, don't jump at a scholarship. While I don't regret my decision to go to UCA and think a lot can be said for not depending on your parents to put you through college, make sure you are in a situation where you aren't at a clash with the culture and lifestyle of the majority of people at your university. My main problem with UCA is that I feel as if I'm surrounded by Babtists everywhere I turn (well, I guess in reality, I am...). I don't have a problem with Babtists, but I just wish that there were a little more diversity in thought and culture in the middle of Arkansas! One of the things that I remember liking so much about UT-Austin was that there was such a variety of people on the campus. It was absolutely crazy seeing all of the types of churches in downtown Austin. Do I correctly remember seeing a Church of Scientology? Good luck and congratulations to everyone going to college this fall.
bigtexx.. .congrats.. I know that is supposed to be a really good school.. lnghrn4life.. howd you like your vandy visit?
Just got into UVA, Virginia Tech, and James Madison University... they all sent em out back to back... Still waiting on rice(deferred), UT(no reply), and A&M(no reply)...
Don't feel bad. UTA is part of the UT system, and MOST schools want people from outside of their system in their grad schools. I know countless people that went to A&M and UT, then did their grad work at the other school because it was easier to get in...."diversify" If you are as qualified as you say you are, you should have no problem getting into any other grad school outside of the UT system. There are some....but not many people with their undergrad and grad degrees from the same school...and it is getting harder to do that because grad schools don't think it looks good to take a lot of people from their own undergrad systems.
RocketMan: Vandy was awesome....I am defintly sold on goin there but they have yet to decide if they want me there or not...i find out for sure sometime next week I also find out from Duke next tuesday via the internet at 6PM .... right now though if i assumed all things equal (scholarships and what not) I would go to Vanderbilt!! SO yea guys keep me in yur thoughts and what not cuz the next week will havea major impact on the rest of my life
HA! I finally got in somewhere this last week. Southern Methodist University - home of the Mustangs, the school with a football team who didn't manage one win last year! It doesn't bother me though. It's a real nice looking school, well funded, and it has a good business school.
lnghrn.. awesome, if you have any questions about vandy or anything let me know.. if you end up going here we will have to get some rocket viewing parties or something...
You live in Virginia, right? If so, I don't know why you're waiting...UVA! It's just as good(Or better) a school as any of the three Texas schools you applied to, and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper for an in-state applicant. UT and A&M tuitions can get quite hefty for out-of-state students. Congratulations to all, by the way.
I have a pretty robust resume...here are the major things... SAT: 1600 SAT IIs: 760 760 760 Top 3% class rank All-state jazz trumpet player President of youth group Secretary NHS etc. etc.
