    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm
    FROM 2017
Number of deaths for leading causes of death
    • Heart disease: 647,457
    • Cancer: 599,108
    • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
    • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
    • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
    • Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404
    • Diabetes: 83,564
    • Influenza and pneumonia: 55,672
    • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,633
    • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173

Looks Like it will overtake Diabetes
It would be 8th - Just under Diabetes - in 2017

Reopening - Not testing - I am concerned about accurate numbers
but still . . I wonder where it will rank
I know that diabetes and influenza/pneumonia/chronic lower respiratory disease -- are all esp vunerable to Corona
    (their numbers may go up)

It will probably be in the top 3. It's overtaken Diabetes and those are figures for a whole year. We are only in the 5th month of this year.

as high as 3rd depending on how bad the 2nd wave is once the weather cools down again and how careless people are as things open up

How do the parents of CF feel with schools possibly opening up in the fall? Would u let your child go?

Honestly, it depends, and it's a tough choice. If there is no spike and things seem to have calmed down, I would probably go ahead and send them back. Otherwise, I may be looking for online options to teach them at home.

Schools are petri dishes for every type of virus and bacteria out there...if one kid has CoronaVirus and gets sent to school, by the end of the day, I would bet that a majority of the kids, teachers, and admin in that school will catch it. They will then go home, spread it to their parents, siblings, others they come in contact and the spread will be even worse. It would be wonderful if we could count on parents to keep their sick kids home, but 1) their kid may be asymptomatic and 2) a lot of parents see school as child care while they go to work and will send their kid to school sick.

It would be nice if the states would provide easier options to allow parents to make a choice if they are adamant about schools opening.

Are we going to use a per 48 style system to chart it? I think we have to.
70,000 in 2 months in the U.S, so if we treat the others like that, Cancer and Heart top @100,000 in 2 months.
Corona comes in as the 3rd rank in dangerous killers for 'hambres'(and women)

(in my post we've contained it and nothing will happen after the NFL Kicksoff *)

*although some scientists from the cdc that report to the wh have said it will be 4 years until we contain it.

I went on a church trip once (ski trip to Durango by bus) where one of the other kids had the flu and knew she was sick before we left. Out of the 20 some odd folks that went only one person wasn't sick by the time we were heading back home. Get back and find out her dad was an infectious disease doctor and sent her knowing she was sick because he didn't want to be out of the money.

I say all this to say... good luck with expecting all of the other parents to be concientsious.

I think that remains the only time I've actually caught the flu.

328 million is the US Population
If everyone got it. . .with a 99% recovery rate
    that leave 3.28 million dead.
if only 10% of the population for it .. . . puts us around 328 000 people

Are we considering how many deaths the federal government will count or how many the statisticians will count? Because Trump is only going to want to count the ones where coronavirus shot them to death with at least 3 witnesses while the statisticians will take an excess death approach that will count even the indirect deaths attributable to the whole crisis. I think it'll be #1 on the latter, and #3 on the former.

Pffft guns don't kill people. Corona don't kill people. Chalk it up to mental illness....

But seriously, cancer related deaths might increase if people are staying home and avoiding infested hospitals.

If i was immuno compromised and can't get treatment at home, I'd be in a jam over feeling like absolute **** in order to get better or getting an absolute **** disease on top of my cancer.

There is no chance that my five-year-old daughter starts Kindergarten this Fall unless a miracle cure or vaccine is developed and readily made available within the next three months. If she was already in public school, she would be homeschooled next year.
