    David Aldridge ---------------------------

Jin Kwak(Houston): Do you think Rockets will survive the first round of playoff? Also should Rockets trade Steve Francis in summer time for goods?

David Aldridge: I don't think Houston can score enough to beat any of the top three or four teams in the west. I know that SA doesn't score a lot, either, so maybe the Rockets could extend them in the first round.

    Dr. Jack------------------------------

Dave (Houston): my rockets lost 3 straight road games and barely win at portland in ot last night. are they going to hang on to the play-off spot. its good thing that denver is not playing well.

Dr. Jack Ramsay: The Rockets will be in the playoffs...have no fear. They defend very well, and when they get Yao in the offense...they're very tough. Not an easy out for any of the top seeded teams.

Brian (Philly): Good Doctor, last night's Rockets-Blazers game was disurbing. 33 Blazer FTs to 11 for the Rockets? Even JVG was complaining. Even YAO was complaining! He said that Ratliff was playing D down low as if it were a WWF match. I don't think it was right for the officials to nearly cost the Rockets a game in retaliation for Steve's comments on sunday.

Dr. Jack Ramsay: The officials don't care what Steve said on Sunday...and don't care who wins. There will be games when one team or another appears to be getting breaks...but the way to get to the line is to take it to the hoop...and if a team shoots mostly Jumpers from the edges...they don't get to the line. Yao like Shaq is going to take some punishment...he's got to learn to handle physical play and still perform. He's improving in that regard.

We have all the offensive options in the world. We can put a line-up out there that can rival the MAVS in terms of scoring.

However, we can't handle pressure and turn the ball over so much trying to achieve our gameplan that we look like a bad offensive team.

It boils down to efficiency. When you shoot less than the other team regularly, you should make more of your possesions.

    Yao Ming
    Mo Taylor
    JJ
    Mobley
    Francis

Would you be surprised to see any of these guys go off for 35pts? I wouldn't.

This is what I strongly disagree with. Why should it be accepted that because Shaq and Yao are big that they should "take some punishment"?! It's a case of the officials trying unfairly to even the playing field. Hell. this is like saying that the best pitchers in baseball should expect to have a smaller strike zone!

I realize that someone like Shaq would probably be shooting 20 FTs a game if they called all the fouls, but so what? They didn't choose to be that big. They just are and shouldn't be penalized for their God-given advantages.

IOW, call the game the way the rules are written regardless of who the player involved is!

That is the wrong way taking it by Dr. Jack.

The reason that Refs allow opponents hacking Shaq is that Shaq
has been punishing oppenents all the time. Many of Shaq's offense moves could be easily called offense fouls by Refs; but they did not, so in return of favor, they allow opponenets to play Shaq a little rough.

Yao's case is very different from Shaq. Yao has often been called offense fouls by Refs for much less physical moves than Shaq's.
At the same time they allow opponents to play against Yao like the way they did against Shaq. That's just wrong.

I would not be surprised if Yao is going to criticize the refs and get a fine soon. I think the complaining and whining by Francis and other guys have a negative effect on the officiating that's so evident in recent games.

why does Jack still have a job? He's like a serious Bill Walton. At least Walton is funny and enjoyable to watch most of the time.

Dr. Jack is not as good a sports analyst as he is a coach. Bill Walton got a sense of humor, both of them have lots of bball knowledge.

It's not possible to call according to the rules because NBA is an entertainment industry. Guys have been allowed special treatments for years, for example, Patrick Ewing almost always travel when he makes a move to the basket, it's not called because Refs think that Pat did not gain advantage by traveling. I think players and refs need to learn and adjust to each other.

I heard a story before, when Michael Jordan was younger, he was called travelling several times with the same move to the basket. Instead of whinning and screaming at the refs. Jordan just laughed and he took the time just before the game, showed the refs why he is not traveling by walking through slow motion each steps of his move. Later, the refs are convinced he's not walking and he did not get call travel on that move again.

I think communication is the key to solving the referee problem. Refs are just people, they made mistakes and they need to be inform and most of them probably will learn and call the game fairly.

When will folks stop talking to or asking for David Aldridge's opinion? I hate to say this but that guy is as good as useless (and that is an understatement).

What David Aldridge says is so true. Defensively, the Rockets look like a premium team, but the offense is just lacking the consistency due to the skillsets of the core players conflicting with each other.

I completely disagree with David Aldridge. The Rockets DO have the offense to knock off the top teams. San Antonio aside, the Rockets offense tends to step up and score against the big dogs in the league, and I think our offense would be solid in the playoffs. One thing people forget is that the playoffs is a more, slow-it-down, game and that benefits the Rockets, especially with the defense and inside game the Rockets have. That's why a team like Minnesota would be better off playing someone like Denver or Portland then the Rockets. They're better off against an open court team. The Rockets would shutdown that nonsense in a playoff setting, while the Rockets have enough offense to disrupt your defense.

Wow dude, I have not seen one of your posts in a LONG time.

I agree with you, in disagreeing with Aldridge. I also think the Rockets have more than enough offense to take care of the top seeds, their D will shut them down enough to compensate.

We are insane from the beyond the arc this season, JJ has already set a career high in 3's this season. He was way off today, but he has been one of the most reliable players this season.

SF game is starting to comeback to him, and Yao keeps getting better and better. I think we are going to be a hell of a team to face in the playoffs.
