This ride is about to get bumpy...

With Cato hurt, our defense looks much worse and looking at our upcoming schedule, we could end up cutting it close.

Do I think we'll fall from playoffs? No. But it looks likely we'll fall into 8th seed, which is not a place I think any of us want to be.

Out of our 11 games left, 7 are on the road, and 10 are against Western conference teams. (And we all know how we do on the road against the West!)

The Lakers are surging with Karl Malone back, having won 7 in a row, having just dominated Sac and Minny in a row. They look like they have a good chance to catch the Kings for the #1 seed.
A Yao/Shaq playoff series would certainly be interesting, but I don't see the Rockets doing to well in it. (and if Cato's injury still lingers, we are in big trouble.)

That said, the thing that REALLY irks me. While as a Rockets fan I'm delighted that the Rockets will make playoffs, it's completely stupid that we are fighting for the 7th and 8th seed, while Memphis is ahead of Dallas and one game out of the 4th seed.

Why hasn't our team made *substantial* progress like that? We might have improved 3-4 wins, but that Memphis team looks like they could have a real chance at a playoff run. Does anyone else get the feeling that this Houston team is as good as their ever gonna be? (Yes, Yao will mature and improve, but there are no signs of the team improving as a team.)

I agree. I don't think this team has any future. Yao could dominate, but right now he is to inconsistant. Francis is a cancer imo. The sooner the Rockets get him out of Houston the better. The Rockets need to do some major chances in the offseason.

How many lottery picks does Memphis have in its starting line up and on its bench. That's what years of terrible play will ultimately get you once you bring in good management.

Let's face reality! ! Will worship, should chase the star , no matter it is all right to everywhere for Francis. He has one's own ability , but he is not fit for here, on the skill, on the style, influence especially. Have him and have no reason , it is steady not to have, not more quick-witted, only act rashly and excited. The passion needs, but the excessive or passion time, stop at nothing, miserable . The storing in will let other sportsmen in the team lose oneself , become onlookersing of Francis! ! The veteran feels aggrieved, the young pathbreaker has no way of giving play to. Progress unable to be substantive of the team. The huge contract restricts the development of the team! ! Francis is not good to the team in Houston, to himself! !
Let's walk , go to look for his own family.
Go, walk, people always learn to grow up by oneself.
Go, walk, the unavoidable experience pain struggles in life, let's go, let's go , look for a family for one's own heart, sad to shed tears, low-spirited and heart-broken, this was cost loved!

This is why our rocketship is known for its CAT (clear air turbulence for the non-flyers).:D

I dunno. How many does it take?
    Yao - 1st pick
    Francis - 2nd pick.
    Jim Jackson was a 4th
    Weatherspoon and Oakley were 9th.
    Mo was 14th
Cato and Nachbar were both 15th.
(We'll just ignore all the picks we wasted for Eddie Griffin)

Only Mobley is the only non-top 15 pick that gets regular time.

    Now Memphis:
    Swift - 2nd
    Gasol - 3rd
    Miller - 5th
    Battier - 6th
    Williams + Wright - 7th
    Bonzi - 11th
    Posey - 18th

That doesn't seem to be much, if any, advantage.

We've had 4 years of terrible play (not making the playoffs = terrible.) So where is our huge payoff?
That's the problem, there is no payoff. We've peaked.

    This is strangely poetic.
    And yes, I agree, again.

As posted by 008 (still to lame to do the quote thingy) "Let's walk , go to look for his own family.

OK, hear is what I propose: If Phill Jackson leaves the Lakers after this season we should trade 008 to them for a first round pick in the 05 and 06 seasons. After all, they WILL need a new 'Zen Master' :)

PS, 008, this passes for humour in Bryan, Tx.

Don't worry about it. Sooner or later everyone will realize that you speak in poetic parables.

This is not humour. It is talking in professional jargon to the persons who disagree! !

Take a look at your list again of all the players mentioned there only Yao and Boki were drafted by the rockets, all the others were signed as FA or traded for

Now if you look at the Grizzlies list you have Swift, Battier, Gasol (yeah i know the trade for SAR, but the trade was decided before and the Grizzlies told the hawks who to choose)

Francis was drafted by the Grizzles and refused to play for them and thus prompted the trade so you could also put in that they also had two more #2 picks that were traded (francis and bibby)

The grizzles have been constantly in the draft with high picks unlike houston and now when they have a GM and coach who knows what they are doing. Besides the 2002 when we drafted Yao and Boki and the year before when we traded away our three picks for Eddie we never had a top 10 pick since Robert Horry if I am not mistaken. While the Grizzles have had top 10 picks for the past 5-6 seasons at least (they had #2 again this season but it was dealt to Detroit) So i have to agree with pgabriel on this one

You're counting Weatherspoon Oakley and Jim Jackson. Is that a joke. How about just counting lotto picks under 30.
