Those news conferences were disastrous for Trump. Probably a smart move on his part to bring that show to an end. Trump can now go into hiding and avoid having to answer tough questions going forward. Trump can now just focus on his rage tweeting and figuring out how to blame the virus crisis on everyone but himself.
Aside from Fauci doing his regular job, did the task force do anything worthwhile? My impression with all of these task forces is that they're just window dressing and/or a smoke screen to avoid individual decisionmakers (Trump) taking responsibility for their decisions when they end poorly.
Like I said yesterday you can't really cover up the catastrophic death toll. I know there are some true patriot idiots who are trying to convince themselves that 200,000 incremental dead bodies is no big deal but ask a funeral home director or a hospital. There's no place to hide this.
