With the season potentially moved to start in December I’d say the change to a new NBA logo would be perfect timing, if not now then when? Also Rockets should consider it, people might buy more with significant changes made to font etc.

Kobe of course. Jerry West doesn’t want to be the logo, new generation knows Kobe, moves are known worldwide so you could create a recognisable one easily.

The NBA wasn't born in 1998. The current generation already suffers from lack of knowledge of those that came before. The Last Dance is shining a light on how good MJ was and how few really know what GREATNESS is.

    TLDR; LEAVE THE LOGO ALONE.

The current logo has built up a lot of brand equity with it, as well as global recognition. There's a reason why huge companies rarely do complete logo re-designs, and instead focus on the little touch-ups. Changing the silhouette of the NBA logo to a completely different form is asinine from the business standpoint. Not only is it not a profitable move, it's setting money on fire.

I’m fine with the Rockets changing their logo, (as long as it’s for the better of course).

But the NBA logo is iconic. Why mess with something that works so well and is so instantly recognizable? It’s a silhouette, so it doesn’t really matter if it’s Jerry West or Kobe or Smush Parker.

Sure let's make the NBA logo a rapist. Sounds like a great idea.

All this stuff people trying to do because he died is getting old. Even though I disagree with them naming the all star mvp award after him so soon after he died. It was more then enough. He doesnt deserve the logo and ever single award named after him like some people have suggested.

I thought this thread was just about our logo not the NBA logo.

So you want the NBA logo be a Mamba, welcome to the marvels of the reptilian house. :D:eek:

Kobe copied Jordan, he doesn't have a great signature move of his own, shake and bake was done by many.

Jordan - Jumpman logo with tongue out

I think changing the silhouette would be fine. Keep everything the same, just change from West to Kobe. It would still be iconic, even moreso really. A more globally recognized person, a legend, a deserving replacement

Agreed. Brand equity is the only thing that matters for the logo.

Everyone instantly recognizes the logo, yet not everyone can tell you who the silhouette is and that doesn't matter... as the purpose of a logo doesn't lie in its significance but its recognition.

Since "old-school" Boomers and older X-Gens hate on the soft, pussified era of basketball

we should piss them off more by memoralizing "soft" with Kyle Korver ducking his man

The rockets should return to original.

Bulls, Celtics, pistons,Knicks, Lakers kept original logo.

it really is amazing how many people just pretend colorado didn't happen or that he didn't settle the civil case. like it seems like that should be a big deal. certainly enough that the outright idolization of him wouldn't be a thing. you'd think a saint walked among us or something. he was really good at basketball, but maybe 4th best of the last 20 years, and not a perfect person.
