So I watched this movie again with a friend last weekend. How freaking good is this movie??? Seriously, this might be my favorite movie ever. Underrated in this movie was Casey Affleck. That guy was so freaking funny. The movie is mostly remembered as a dramatic story...but there's so much comedy there. And the haunting Elliot Smith soundtrack running behind it. Great stuff. Anyway...I realize this thread is like 5 years late or so...but...oh, well.
Ok. Good movie, but still, there is no way he's going to meet the girl at the end of the movie. First of all he treated her like total crap so she's never gonna take him back. Plus there is nothing to suggest that he's even going to try to win her back, except for a small glimpse at the end of the movie that he's on the road. I just don't see the happy ending everyone wants to see. It is a good movie tho'.
Great movie, except for the use of "Afternoon Delight" over the end credits. Didn't these people learn anything from PCU?
the movie is good. good scripts like that just don't come around every year any more. about the ending. you know it doesn't have to entirely believable for me to buy it. as long as you don't go as far as the Last Samurai's level of unbelievability.
wha???? don't you know life imitates art. treating her like crap IS the reason she will take him back. trust me, i know.
the movie is loosely related to someone who is real, who my dad met. Theres this guy in virginia, when he was young, was a custodian in virginia tech and he was solving the answers on the board at night. he was brought in, educated, went there for a fellowship, finished it in 2 years, and pretty much became an entrepeneur after that. He has been working on fiber optics, last time i heard. interesting about him is that he designed his own house in virginia but had an old tree be the centerpeice of the house, with stairs and such going around it. basically, he built the house around the tree.
I just saw this for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty good for about the first hour, but it loses momentum and devolves into Psych 101 cliches.
Where was Robin Williams six months ago? Robin Williams: "It's not your fault." Eddie Griffin: "I know." RW: "It's not your fault." EG: "I know." RW: "It's not your fault." EG: "I SAID I KNOW!!!!!!!!!" RW: "It's not your fault." [The two men embrace. They cry. Camera fades out. Screen darkens. Camera zooms in on the 2003-2004 NBA Finals, with Eddie Griffin jumping center for the Houston Rockets. ]
