Short tempered Bill already grew tired of him. Doesn't matter Brian. Signed Eric Murray for $7M/yr Brian.
John McClain said on 610 the Texans have a vet in mind that they will sign. Doesn't see it being Eric Reid because of his lawsuit against the league
Is Roby the first DB FA we have signed in the BoB era projected to start for more than one year? Gipson - No Honey Badger - No Colvin - No Bademosi - No We’ve had Reid and KJax/JJo as multi year starters but it’s been a revolving door of bust draft picks, FA signings, and UDFAs otherwise.
Doesn't matter Brian. Billy could wake up tomorrow and cut him. They said it on the rotoworld podcast. A 4-year plan? Texans don't even have a 4-day plan. Bob can wake up tomorrow & cut/trade anyone he wants for any reason (or no reason) at all. Yeah he gave away Clowney & Hopkins because they didn't get along and he wanted them gone and cut Colvin after the Saints game but looking back, it was in 2015. Not that Mallett is any good or anything like that but hot head short tempered O'Brien wanted to cut Mallett (who missed the team flight) on the spot before the game and go into the game with only one QB. I'll cut you at any time for any reason. Won't have a backup QB on game day? Don't care. You're an All-Pro/Pro Bowler? Don't care. Will give you away if I don't like you. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...-Rick-Smith-vetoes-Bill-O-Brien-s-6592016.php O'Brien wanted - and tried - to cut Mallett before the Texans ever took the field during a 44-26 blowout defeat to the Dolphins, said sources with direct knowledge of the situation who weren't authorized to speak publicly. But the second-year leader was overruled by longtime general manager Rick Smith. If O'Brien had his way, Mallett would've never joined the team in Miami. Smith pushed to keep Mallett because the GM believed the team needed a capable backup for Brian Hoyer against the Dolphins. https://www.houstonpress.com/news/houston-texans-release-qb-ryan-mallett-7880345 As it turned out, the only thing keeping Mallett's release from happening before the game on Sunday was General Manager Rick Smith's talking O'Brien off the ledge. According to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle, O'Brien wanted to cut Mallett immediately after he missed the flight on Saturday, but Smith overruled O'Brien, citing the need for an actual backup quarterback in an NFL game, as opposed to using punter Shane Lechler.
If only other teams operated on their emotions and anger... Jamal Adams would be ours for a 2nd or a 3rd buttttt nooooo, their GM is going to be patient. PATIENCE WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT TANIA!!
don’t hate on this genius gm Bill Er Brian. He has a plan. Players love to play here for him. *crickets*
I would have done exactly what BOB wanted to do. That would've made a statement to the team. It's what Jimmy Johnson would've done. I'm also glad RS isn't here to subvert what BOB wants to do with HIS team and HIS vision.
I thought cutting Gipson saved us like 8.5 mil? Not sure where I heard that though. If so, sign Eric Reid and sign Markus Golden, and let's roll.
Tunsil spoke highly of the man who just gave him $66M and made him the highest paid highest paid lineman in the NFL? You don't say. I don't have a very high opinion of B'OB, but if he gave me $66M I'd probably speak highly of him too.
We signed him for $22.5M over 3 seasons. After what we paid him last year and the dead money created this year, we would have had to pay him around $10M more if he had played this year and next. So yeah, we created dead money, but we're still kind of saving money in the long run. We paid $4.25M to cut him now vs. paying him about $14M over the next 2 years if he stayed.
Tunsil just got the highest paid ol, of course he won’t talk down. Watt has an image he will keep up. Won’t talk down. how many free agents bailed on the Texans because of word they hear from other players?
