Stuff like this is really getting to me. I completely understand the desire to open. I completely understand a lot of people are in economic pain. The hyperbolic anger and frankly craziness coming out of many people is not helping. Mayor Goodman isn't alone in the stuff she says. She just happens to be an elected mayor of a large city. Some of the crazy stuff I'm hearing from people protesting these shutdowns is very disturbing. IF you believe some of these people this is a conspiracy between doctors, the media and Communists in the Democratic party. These people are claiming that the deaths numbers aren't that bad and that it's hospitals assigning deaths by other causes to COVID 19 so they can make more money. It's crazy. ... Thankfully these people are a minority but as we all should know it doesn't take a lot of people to do a lot of damage. With politicians who either believe this stuff, think there are more important things than living, or just spineless ,even though polling is overwhelming against relaxing standards too early we're already seeing those standards relaxed. Instead of slowing down this pandemic we're likely to see another surge sooner rather than later.
I never said you were a trump supporter??? I never brought up liberal and red/blue either. You said everyone wants to be CA/NY, and no one is like Mississippi... and I asked why would we want any state to be like Mississippi? My point was ... if every time we have a disastrous shortcoming, we fail miserably compared to other countries, the excuse is always "well we're so big and diverse you can't compare", my point is, instead of that scapegoat, just break the US into smaller individual countries that way we can finally govern properly, because if you believe the core of the issue is we are too big to handle, then we should break it up?
I can't blame her too much. I get her argument. I personally know people, including doctors, who would agree with her. But I wouldn't go there now.
Does anyone know what the tax structure is like for Las Vegas? How much are these casinos paying in taxes? It seems like with all of the money coming into Las Vegas that casinos should be compelled to fund a rainy day fund for their employees. Either through a city managed fund or done privately by by the casinos.
