Sponsored by the National Wildlife Foundation... music for preschoolers..oh my god! They are catchy tunes, I must admit, but they are violent! -------------------- I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee, Won't my mamma be so proud of me I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee Ouch! That bumblebee stung me! I'm smashing up my baby bumblebee, Won't my mamma be so proud of me I'm smashing up my baby bumble bee Yuck! It's all over me! I'm licking up my baby bumblebee, Won't my mamma be so proud of me I'm licking up my baby bumblebee Ugh I don't feel so good! I'm throwing up my baby bumble bee, Won't my mamma be so proud of me I'm throwing up my baby bumble bee. Uh-Oh Here comes Mommy ----------------------------------------------- Old Mister Johnson had troubles of his own He had a yellow cat which wouldn't leave its home; He tried and he tried to give the cat away, He gave it to a man goin' far, far away. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea The man around the corner swore he'd kill the cat on sight, He loaded up his shotgun with nails and dynamite; He waited and he waited for the cat to come around, Ninety seven pieces of the man is all they found. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea He gave it to a little boy with a dollar note, Told him for to take it up the river in a boat; They tied a rope around its neck, it must have weighed a pound Now they drag the river for a little boy that's drowned. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea He gave it to a man going up in a balloon, He told him for to take it to the man in the moon; The balloon came down about ninety miles away, Where he is now, well I dare not say. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea He gave it to a man going way out West, Told him for to take it to the one he loved the best; First the train hit the curve, then it jumped the rail, Not a soul was left behind to tell the gruesome tale. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea The cat it had some company one night out in the yard, Someone threw a boot-jack, and they threw it mighty hard; It caught the cat behind the ear, she thought it rather slight, When along came a brick-bat and knocked the cat out of sight But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea Away across the ocean they did send the cat at last, Vessel only out a day and making water fast; People all began to pray, the boat began to toss, A great big gust of wind came by and every soul was lost. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea On a telegraph wire, sparrows sitting in a bunch, The cat was feeling hungry, thought she'd like 'em for a lunch; Climbing softly up the pole, and when she reached the top, Put her foot upon the electric wire, which tied her in a knot. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea The cat was a possessor of a family of its own, With seven little kittens till there came a cyclone; Blew the houses all apart and tossed the cat around, The air was full of kittens, and not a one was ever found. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea The atom bomb fell just the other day, The H-Bomb fell in the very same way; Russia went, England went, and then the U.S.A. The human race was finished without a chance to pray. But the cat came back the very next day, The cat came back, we thought he was a goner But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away. Away, away, yea, yea, yea -------------------------------------------- There is Alligator song too where the kid gets eaten by an alligator after riding on it's back. Wow.
There's a great animated short of the cat came back. Does anyone else think those two songs would be great rap/hiphop remakes?
Kiddie songs are definitely catchy. Tune into Noggin for 8 hours a day and youll love the following songs: 4 raisin buns in a baker's shop Round and fat with a cherry on the top Along came a monkey with a nickle one day Paid for the bun and took it away 3 raisin buns in a baker's shop Round and fat with a cherry on the top Along came a turtle with a nickle one day Paid for the bun and took it away 2 raisin buns in a baker's shop Round and fat with a cherry on the top Along came a tiger with a nickle one day Paid for the bun and took it away 1 raisin buns in a baker's shop Round and fat with a cherry on the top Along came a bee with a nickle one day Paid for the bun and took it away
the best thing about kiddie songs and stories is all the dirty stuff and potential sexual implicitness that you find out once you become a teenager. puff the magic dragon, indeed.
Hats are really groovy You wear them on your head They come in many colors Like purple, green, and red...
I remember BUNCHES of kids songs - a bunch of songs I learned in Girl Scouts too. My favorite is: I am suddenly going crazy 123456 SWITCH Crazy going suddenly am I 654321 SWITCH repeated endlessly or until you get yelled at by someone else.
****, no wonder our kids are growing up stupid. We need more Ted Nugent and Lynard Skynard in preschools and less wuss rock.
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly I don't know why she swallowed a fly I guess she'll die There was an old lady who swallowed a spider... (don't make me repeat the rest of it) Creepy song now that I think about it. It seemed perfectly all right and funny then.
Me and my brother loved the muppet show version so much, we still say it to each other when something won't die/go away. CLASSIC!
What's Noggin? Your little man is too young, but I wonder if The Wiggles will still be around when he's 2-3-4. My girls love The Wiggles. With my older kids it was Raffi. My personal favorite was and is Riders in the Sky. They do fun and beautiful vocal harmony-- mostly western music.
though i didn't even remember there was a 'the cat came back" song until just now, are those the actual lyrics? if so, damn. nails and dynamite to learn the kids about shrapnel, kids drowning, kittens dying, entire boats of people killed. now that's wholesome entertainment. edit: after reading giddyup's post, i must add that Raffi was indeed the bomb (but without the nails).
Noggin is a commercial free kids channel. Pretty neat channel. We've actually watched the Wiggles a few times. DId you know those guys are millionaires?
