COVID-19 and SARS‑CoV‑2 might be good names for the WHO and some uptight scientist types, but they really suck for the common man. They don't roll off the tongue very well, and frankly, they sound dorky. We need a good slang term for the disease (and does the virus itself need a separate name?!?). Something that the people can use instead of these hoity toity WHO names. What better place to come up with that name than Clutchfans? Probably shouldn't be too overtly anti-Chinese. Sure, it started there, but it's not like we didn't have a bit more time to come up with a better response. Throw out some suggestions. If we get some good ones, maybe we can have a vote on which one is best and start using it with friends and family until it goes viral. If you absolutely MUST give separate names for the virus and the disease, than I guess go for it.
Rona is good enough for me. I gotta admit Kung Flu is clever yet will probably ruin the childhoods of many Asian American youths.
