Since I'm stuck at home with a project on hold I've been wasting more time on D&D but since I'm an argumentative b*stard I'm trying to engage some local MN radio hosts in a debate. The midday host Dan "Common Man" Cole and guest producer Paul "Meatsauce" Lambert. Started off the show playing "We Built this City" and talked about how once VH-1 rated it the worst song ever. Both of them put it in their top ten for great songs. Here is my email to them. " Common you and Sauce are wrong and VH-1 is right. We Built this City is horrible. It is the Detroit Lions of Songs. (sidenote Common Man is originally from Detriot and a Lions fan) I’m even more disappointed knowing your taste in music that you would praise it. This was made by the band that once was Jefferson Airplane and made such great free form psychedelia like White Rabbit. Then “Starship” made this over produced synthesized 80’s dreck.. Keep up the good work, and I mean that with no irony. You’re doing a great service to all of us. Houston Sports Guy.. Also if we get through this and MLB is back I’ve got a trashcan you bang when the Astros come to town!" What do the collective wisdom of Clutchfans say?
This song came out more than 30 years ago so for the interest of education I'm posting this. It is important the youth know about this and other horrors of history such as Inquisition, The great 1906 Earthquake and "Starship".
Couldn't disagree more, that song is a banger! Worst is Disco Duck with Macarena a close 2nd. That said, mods please lock this embarrassment of a thread.
had no idea what song you were talking about...well, I listened to it, and it’s garbage this is nowhere near my type of music anyways, so if you’re playing this song or any song like it, I’m gonna have to disconnect u from the bluetooth speaker, change the channel on the radio, close your laptop, turn off your phone, etc
Ipaman I can forgive you for your political takes but this just proves you're a horrible person with no true sense of political or musical identity.
This or We Didn't Start the Fire are in serious consideration for the worst song ever, yes. Easily top 10. Anyone who disagrees simply has bad taste.
A follow up they read my email on air and it got some good laughs, especially the "It is the Detroit Lions of Songs" I was vindicated also as the guest right after they read my email was a longtime and respected local music DJ Brian Oak who backed up my position.
Not sure about worst song I’ll have to think about that, but this has to be one of the worst videos ever. When they start playing air instruments
Do they ever play this song at all?!?!?!? ^ The electronic (drum) on it kills it for me, should of kept it with horns. Better version
Its 80s schmaltz by 60s/70s "rockers" who were too self absorbed to realize they should have quit trying to be pop stars about the time they got their first prostate exam. As a fan of 60s Jefferson Airplane, its pathetically sad is what it is. It's like a bloated corpse rotting away from the inside.
The entire Ace of Base catalog is worse. If I had a wish or a one time trip in a time machine I would kill Ace of Base before they recorded a single song. Screw killing Hitler, screw the Sports Almanac, screw saving the whales. Ace of Base is the worst.
