China's trying to spin that the virus originated in the US so I don't have an issue with him reminded everyone where it came from.

Three weeks late on pretty much everything.

He keeps bragging about stopping travel from China. But, we were terribly slow with stopping travel from other regions. Furthermore, most of the people who brought the virus into the US were Americans, who are not included in the ban.

As soon as the virus moved out of China, anyone traveling to the US should have been tested and advised to self quarantine.

Just an all around failure From the beginning.

Happy to see Trump finally taking this more seriously. But, he’s basically been trying to spin all this to his favor all along. At first he tried to play it down. Now he’s trying to play the role of savior.

Any bets that Trump will take credit for social distancing, that states/counties/cities and private entities instituted a week or so before his Admin started suggesting it.

If it works, and it will at least help, then of course.

Cuomo should probably order a lockdown but he is not. Maybe like @SamFisher posted, it is simply not practical, on the timescale we would need. (?)

Global disease expert I know was quoting Cuomo as saying NYC would need 30,000 ICU beds at the peak of this outbreak, but they have 3,000, if I’ve got that right. Yikes.

^For a population of 8.5 million people, that's a very small percentage...as long as I'm not one of those thirty thousand.

I disagree somewhat -- China deserves some shame for allowing these disgusting wet markets to create another serious virus outbreak. I think we should have continued to called it Wuhan Virus. It's not racist but a reminder that puts pressure through a bit of shame on China to clean up their country. At any rate there should be a focused world wide effort to make wet markets illegal. Many outbreaks of disease are referred to by the city or person of origin (ex Spanish Flu, Marburg) and in the case of the 1918 influenza outbreak it didn't even originate from Spain.

Meanwhile trump seems stuck on the "Chinese Virus" attack, I guess oblivious to his CDC and WHO advisers who criticize the misused term as absolutely wrong and inappropriate and creates a stigma against Chinese Americans. But hey, trump has to trump (likely as advised by limbaugh, miller and kushner)... and of courses, lies about how "very seriously he took the virus and what a "good job" he has done... no wonder only 20% have a lot of trust in what they hear from the pinocchio-in-chief

This may be his biggest lie yet. Wish it was possible to impeach. I guess we are stuck with him. As we get closer and closer to the point of no return, trump is steering the ship full speed ahead directly towards the iceberg. Why can't he keep his mouth shut and get out of the way and let other more competent individuals lead the effort to deal with this?
