    You want another TRUTH Tinman.

You praise The Dream (which you should), but you belittle his Alma Mater (University of Houston).

    Here's a TRUTH.

The Rockets don't win both of their Championships if they don't have Hakeem and Clyde who both went to UH!!

Throw in Herrera and that's three Cougars who helped them win the two titles. Not a single Longwhorn on the roster!!

I bring this up in MJ conversations all the time.

“MJ never lost in the finals”

true, only because prime Jordan lost to the Magic in the playoffs, & didn’t make it to the finals.

Also, Jordan left the bulls & the following year they only lost TWO more regular season games. They lost “the greatest ever”
& only lose 2 more games. Pippen finished 3rd in the MVP race that year. MJ is the GOAT, but he absolutely had help.

I actually think in the era dream played, he was more valuable than Jordan

He would be unstoppable in the paint and require double and triple teams opening up wide open shots for his team mates. He was also the anchor on defense blocking shots and getting steals

I would build a team around a dominant offensive center who had amazing defensive skills over even over mj

Its a shame how some people have to build themselves up by tearing others down...

but you go ahead and make your broad sweeping assessments of people you've never even met...

its one thing to be a fan - and quite another to use your fandom as some sort of justification for rudeness...

    ...smh...

The point was playing baseball and coming back doesn't make him the GOAT alone, Ainge did it. Now what he did while playing is another thing but just because he failed at baseball and had no choice but to come back because he has to support his gambling habit, or should I say his debts does not mean anything...He is definitely one of the GOATS.

    1 v 1 I'll take Hakeem.

Jordan was a great player, Hakeem could do everything he could, but better.

Jordan hit shots when he needed, but his high percentaged comes from layup and dunks. Let's not act like he didn't have any HOF help either. He had way more help than Hakeem did. Not even the mighty Jordan was going to stop Hakeem from getting his rings. Beside when we did play them around the time we won those two 'chips we mopped the floor with them.

If they beat the Magic and played us in the Finals....his legacy would have still been great but wouldn't be as great if he lost to the Rockets. NBA was not going to let that happen. Better he lose to the youthful dominating Shaq and a young Penny, the next generation.

I go with Jordan’s own words when he spoke to one of our beat writers.

(paraphrasing) I’m glad the Rockets can’t get out of the West, because we have no answer for that monster in the middle.-MJ

The front line of the Bulls was trash and as good as the wing players were, they needed an above average forward in Horace Grant to help win their first three championships. After losing to the Knicks, Grant went to the Magic, leaving the Bulls without an above average front court player. With or without Grant in that frontline and even if Jordan had played every game of those two years, they were not winning against Dream and the Rockets.

After Dream's dominance imploded the Spurs by making Rodman sulk, quit, lay down, and take his shoes off in the middle of a game, the Bulls were able to snap up the damaged goods. They stroked his ego, made him comfortable by not asking him to be a leader, and made peace with his incomplete game. It did give them an above average front court player again and with a few other additions, they took off for 3 championships. How much was Rodman damaged goods after Houston eliminated the Spurs? He was traded for Will Perdue. A Hall of Famer (who shouldn't be) was traded for Will effing Perdue.

Here's an excerpt from an article at the time. There are countless similar ones available via Google:

(Going into the series, the common media wisdom held that the combo of Robinson and Rodman would stymie Dream.)

I bring all this up, because the vast majority of people think "Jordan" without thinking "team." If Jordan had played, 1994 would have been a fun series as they still had Grant but we know by now that the Rockets had their number and huge advantage in Dream/OT vs Grant/Cartwright/Perdue/Wennington/Longley. (Bulls did have 24 fouls to throw at Dream.) For the second year, the Bulls teams had major holes and if they could have made it to the Finals, I think there's little doubt Rockets win.

To their credit, the Bulls got the most out of Rodman and went on to win 3 (in part because Rodman got in the Mailman's homophobe head in a big way), but the Rockets' championships should not be diminished.

    Dream knows.
