Let it be known that I'm making this prediction after Derek Anderson's injury. Let it be known that I'm making this prediction after Shaq's incredible performances. David Robinson and co. will hold Shaq into the more respectable 20/15 range. David has an outside game... he won't miss the shots that Vlade fails on now. Daniels could get killed by Kobe... but only from the outside w/ the Spurs' frontcourt. This is all moot though. Have you guys noticed at all that the Spurs aren't boring anymore? Tim Duncan has the fire. He's furious that Derek has been hurt. It's not just an emotional high, it's sheer anger that this season could get stolen from him. Who's going to stop him? He'll have an easier field day through Horace Grant and (hehe) Robert Horry than he has now going through Howard, etc. Hell, he won't even waste his time on more than a handful of outside shots. He'll be sitting Horace Grant down within 5 or 6 minutes w/ 2 fouls most games... and he's a great passer to the best 3point fg% team in the NBA. The Lakers will get great performances from Kobe and Fox... but Ferry, Porter, Daniels, Rose, etc. will offset it just enough to let Robinson and Duncan do their work. Spurs in 6. ------------------ women love me, fish fear me.
Lakers in 6. Daniels will get killed by Kobe. Look for Shaq's numbers to decline and Kobe's to rise substantially in this series. NBC will make a big deal of saying how "Shaq carried the team against the Kings, and now Kobe is stepping up to carry them against the Spurs -- what a great team!" ***puke*** Anyway, Lakers in 6. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
I second that, Achebe. Then, Spurs over Bucks in 6. I would say 5, but the Bucks are a better version of the Knicks team the Spurs beat 2 seasons ago (perimeter-oriented, not as good defensively, much better offensively and on the boards), and they went 5. If Anderson were there, I'd say Spurs over Bucks in 4. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Live (edited May 09, 2001).]
TheFreak, I guess I'm jumping the gun, I just have to have a backup plan after wasting time watching the *ugghghh* Lakers beat the Kings. Cool live, now we just have to convince fadeaway. fadeaway, don't you think that Kobe jacking up a bunch of jumpers w/ Daniels not giving him any space will make his teammates kind of angry? ------------------ women love me, fish fear me.
Kobe Bryant going off for a big series isn't going to help the Lakers if everybody else is shutdown and that is what is going to hurt the Lakers, Anderson or no Anderson. Spurs over the Lakers in 6, if it goes to 7 the Spurs in 7. ------------------ See the three, be the three.
Not if he makes them. Not if they win. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
What?!? You guys think the Spurs can hang with the Lakers. I'll give the Spurs credit. I'll take Lakers in 6 or 7. ------------------
Spurs in either 6 or 7. I wonder if they'll try putting Shaq on Duncan when Grant gets taken to school. ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
D-Rob Vs Shaq will not be as big a disadvantage as people think T-Dunc vs generic PF will be a good advantage The Jobs will come with T-Porter D-Ferry S-elliot If they play well . . NOT GREAT maybe not even good . . but . . .well . . I see the spurs in 6 [they may go 7 for NBC purposes] Rocket River Da Spurs!! ------------------
Achebe, I was merely making a joke. You have given me hope now, though. After the Spurs lost their 2nd-leading scorer, I'd been resigned to the fact that LA and Phil Jackass would luck out again.
Guys, we all know what happens when David Robinson has to up against an elite Center wearing #34 in the WCF...NOT PRETTY!!!!!!... Lakers in 6. ------------------ Get Cato out of there...
Guys, we all know what happens when David Robinson has to up against an elite Center wearing #34 in the WCF...NOT PRETTY!!!!!!... I know what's happened when the Spurs, Robinson, Duncan, etc. have matched up against an elite center named Shaq-- total domination. If it is the Lakers and Spurs, I'll take the Spurs in 5, maybe even 4. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor, Jason Collier, and draft Richard Jefferson fan club! Excuse me?...Total domination?...The Spurs and Lakers split 2-2 this year. Lakers even beat them once without Kobe, so I don't know there this domination theory comes from. ------------------ Get Cato out of there...
Excuse me?...Total domination?...The Spurs and Lakers split 2-2 this year. Lakers even beat them once without Kobe, so I don't know there this domination theory comes from. We were talking playoff basketball from my understanding in this thread. The playoffs are a totally different type of game than the regular season. Check Shaq's record against the Spurs in the playoffs... that is total domination. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor, Jason Collier, and draft Richard Jefferson fan club! Lakers in 6 or 7--- Don't forget guys, Shaq is looking forward to this one as much or more than Duncan is---and he has a bigger impact on the game than Duncan does because he makes his teammates so much better. Put it this way---San Antonio won't beat the Lakers at all in LA and the Lakers will take at least one in San An. ------------------
