    We NEED A CLUTCH PLAYER!!

Beside the turnovers, and the mistakes our guards make... THIS TEAM NEEDS A CLUTCH PLAYER I mean when it comes down to the 4th quarter with 5mins left seems like this team doesn't really have a reliable GO TO GUY unless someone is playing real good that game. So far only JJ or if Yao is having a good game I would feel good about taking shots down the stretch. But when you play GOOD teams that has a PEJA, BIBBY, KOBE, GARNETT, DIRK, NASH, DUNCAN is going to be real hard to pull a game out at the end and the PLAYOFF is when they step it up. Who can for us?
Back then HAKEEM, KENNY, HORRY, CASSELL & ELIE were all CLUTCH PLAYERS that closed games out for us or got us the BIG SHOT. But with this team I just dont see any consisent CLUTCH players that's maybe while is this team is so ON and OFF.

Lets go to Wal-Mart and pick out one on sale, Its past the trade deadline, the only thing we can do is hope Oak is that magical player you hope for. But our chances lay better in JJ/Yao/Steve taking that role, and doing it well.

Yeah i was thinking about this earlier. Steve use to be our clutch player, but I think we should go with a Cat more often

Cat has more weapons with the pull up, drive, and passing.

Our best bet, at least for the remainder of this season, is to designate one player the closer and to give him the opportunity to develop and emerge into a clutch player by handing the ball over with the game on the line, win-lose-or-draw. Yao is the obvious one for the role, but it's going to be a struggle. Since we're fighting for the playoffs with a road-heavy schedule and the Blazers, Jazz and Nuggets all chasing, I don't see Francis or Mobley or Taylor handing it over to Yao during clutch time.

I don't know if anyone else noticed during the Kings game, but the Rockets were playing very selfishly down the stretch. Well, alright, so you'd have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to pick up on that, particularly when you contrast their play against the Kings' style.

But what we need are more games like against Phoenix where Yao took over with the game on the line. He needs to keep taking those final shots and eventually he'll start making more than he misses. That's the hope, at least.

Then once we establish one clutch player, we can work on complementary clutch players (like our Cassell, Horry, Elie folks). Even Duncan has Parker and Ginobili (and last year, Jackson).

Are Cat and Steve still close? They used to be two peas in a pod. I think Cat should take a leadership role with Steve, maybe he would listen to Cat.

Yao had two really bad game. He needs to be aware that he has to get 16,18 points a game at least, no matter what. Look at Webber. There is the difference.

the difference is that webber did not foul out while yao did. The biggest difference in the game was the 13 free throws to 31. Thats the only thing that kept sacramento in the game.

The Rockets poor defense and decision making is what kept Sacramento in the game...

That's horrible. Billups has a poor FG%, ang although he is ABLE to take care of the ball (unlike Francis) he is not always focused on doing it.

    I totally agree.

Is there anyway we can get back some of the former Rox from the Champion years, Horry and Cassell, instead of washed out Knicks?

we have one of the best clutch player in Yao, as proven by statistics. What he needs is trust from his teammates, and more confidence in himself.

We just need to bring back Mario Elie....or someone else with that kind of attitude and guts....unfortunately, there appears to be very few of his type that actually accept playing their role....

We have two huge clutch players - SF and Yao. Individually, that tandem is almost as good as it gets when the ball is in their hands as the clock winds down. They may not be able to play consistently all 4 quarters, but in 7-second situations, on average they are great. I think MoT is really getting there as well.

The problem is that we're not a clutch TEAM... things tend to screw up before the shot gets off. Somehow someone will make a terrible pass or delay a pass.

But remember, they were not always clutch players. They developed into clutch performers as a team, gaining confidence from each other with a superstar as their anchor.

    Yao Ming!!!
We need train Yao Ming to be our Go-To-Guy in the clutch time.
Take a look at his game with blazers yesterday. It just was great.

I don't think that CAT is a good clutch player. He often made TOs at the clutch time, even if he is a better shooter than SF3. JJ may be a good candidate.

YAO needs more time to make his shot. If you guys let YAO become a clutch player, YAO must need helps from SF3.
