ESPN PTI This is probably about the fine, but I wanted to post it in a thread title, so everyone would see it. Raven
They pretty much said that Francis did the right thing by immediately apologizing. They don't like the fact that reporters immediatley try to interview players right after an emotional momoent.
Basically sideline reporters never get any meaningful comments and are only talked about when someone uses foul language. Wilbon really supported SF and said it was in the heat of the moment and he appolagized.
That Jim Gray is annoying as Barkley said once. He's waiting for this kind of stuff to happen. But still what Steive said was stupiiiiiid.
Even tho' I hate what Grey does. Because ya, it makes you cringe. He's just doing his job. He is supposed to get the hot story. And Francis gave it to him.
i remember the absolute worst thing gray ever did was to mike bibby. he ran up grabbed bibby and asked him how it felt losing game 7 in the WCF being so close and all the missed free throws. then he grabs kobe and asks bibby what he thought of kobe and then asks kobe what he thought of mike. man i would have beaten his a$$ right there if i were bibby forget the fine and suspension would have been worth it the kings can still win with bibby out 10-20 games
spot on PSJ........ Francis' behaviour meant Grey was going to interview him...... francis then had to think before speaking
I thought the worst thing grey did was with Pete Rose. I think there's a pattern of him going over and try to annoy with players just to get a bad response out of them. That said, Steve shouldn't have cursed on nat TV (though I can't say I wouldn't have in the same situation).
That's how Jim Gray make his living. Every professions have to have someone like him, to do the dirty work nobody else want to do. As a reporter, he has to take the abuse and wrath of people just by asking someone the toughest question at the worst time. I remember Gray asks Carl Malone what was he feeling just right after he turned the ball over to Jordan and Jordan with the steal and hit the shot to win the championship. Malone looks like about to cry, and really want to bang his head on the wall for that costly stupid mistake. Right then, Jim Gray grabbed Malone and ask him.
Steve was just mad because he ended up on the floor on that play and nobody came to help him up. He finally had to get off the floor -- get this -- BY HIMSELF!
yeah that Jim Grey is annoying.. I remember at the Rookie / Soph game he comes up to Shaq (who is sitting around enjoying the game) and the asks him "how does it feel losing your starting spot to Yao?" come on Jim how do you think it feels? J
this is nothing new... and in fact, Francis was probably not even top 5 with Grey. Remeber, Grey got the interview of a lifetime after the Tyson-Hollyfield ear-biting debacle. For those who missed it, Grey got the privilege of attacking the Tyson camp right after the fight was called off... he was the one who got such quotes as "he (Hollifield) was hopping around like a little b!tch !" from Mike's boyz, and other more graphic quotes from the frak show himself. bottom line. if you are a player and you see Jim Grey coming toward you... just pretend you don't see him and walk the other way
HAHAHA!! yeah, and remember right after saddams 2 sons got whacked, he crawled into that hole wearing a turbin, and stuck a mic into saddams face and was all like, "your living in a rat and feces infested hole, your tWo sons just got blown the funk up, how do you feel? i mean, i hate saddam, but that is just cruel!
Sean Elliot on NBA FastBreak talked about SF being an emotional player/leader, and how SF is a competitor. Did say that players shouldn't curse, but emotions do boil over. SF isn't getting any calls when he drives in anymore, not matter what the reason is, he is fouled almost everytime he drives and he never gets the calls. I'd be pissed too and so should JVG.
Last night, an LA radio guy questioned the league for not suspending Francis for doing the same thing Shaq did. He said, "What's the deal?" Well, Fracis apologized immediately, whereas Shaq said, "I don't give a ****." That's the deal.
