I don't know how many of you remember, but I mentioned a couple months back that a good friend of mine had been chosen to be on VH1's new show "You Rock With..." where musicians try out to get a shot to perform onstage with a famous rock band. My friend, Robin Beecham, made it to the finals and won, ultimately performing onstage with Matchbox 20 in the first episode which airs tonight on VH1. She has been a friend of mine for many years and played in several popular bands in Houston in the 80's and early 90's (XOX, Velvet Hammer, etc). She now lives in LA. Here's a story on it from CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/03/20/rob.thomas.ap/index.html
They should set this up like that Fox reality show where the bimbo's set up with 25 guys, a bunch of them gay. Make the musician think they're going to get to jam with a really great band they love, and then stick them with some absolute schlock rock group. "OK, I know you thought you were gonna jam with The White Stripes, but instead, we've reunited the 80s metal pop band Vandenberg for you to jam with!!!! NAYYYYYYYY!!!!!"
Dang Jeff, she can really play that Axe!!! A great looking girl who can actually play an instrument. I hope this leads to greater things for her.
Robin is a great guitar player. Has been for years and years. She is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She deserves any success she gets.
I would just like to note that it is actually matchbox twenty, not 20. And damn you A-Train for dissing the best pop band of the past decade..
