enbehay - I'm with you! Dump Cato and his sorry *%&#... for whatever Chicago will give us, and draft for your next starting center. The only way I trade all three picks is if we know we are going to get Curry or Diop. I know everybody is talking Griffen, Brown, etc, but the league is flush with forwards and guards especially after this draft!! The odds are just as great for any of those guys to flame out as for the behemoths mentioned above! We cannot afford to let two "huge" big men with developing talent go by the way side. Watch and see what Shaq does to either Philly or the Bucks next week !! Shy of the big man plan, I would not trade all three picks to move into the top five, but I would trade 13 and 23 to move into the 6 or 7 spot!! ------------- Our purpose in life is to find our gift. The meaning of life is to give it away. ------------------
enbehay/Rockets-r-us, Please see my thread 'Epiphany regarding Webber trade" I think we are all in violent agreement. Cato is bad in our eyes, of course, next to what we are used to with Olajuwan, most centers are, but for a few other teams, Cato is what they desire in a center and what they are looking for - interior size in the zone not necesarrily scoring (eg. da Bulls - they have scorers, but little interior size). ROCKET!!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKET!!! (edited June 03, 2001).]
Rocket and Rockets-R-Us: I am not anti-Cato. I would not be opposed if the Rockets trade him, but everyone wants to give away the farm just to get rid of him. As I said, the Bulls like Cato and probably would trade Miller or Fizer (neither figure in the Bulls future) and a draft pick (maybe #30, the first of the second rounders) in order to get him. Cato may have a breakout season. I don't want to see him go unless we can secure Diop. That way Miller or Collier can be the transition center until the Rockets get Diop ready. He is raw but so was the Dream coming out of UH. And maybe we can keep the Dream, who would be a really great instructor for Diop! ------------------ [This message has been edited by enbehay (edited June 03, 2001).]
enbehay, Clear! Of the same mind....again see my thread - "Epiphany regrading Webber trade" Out! ROCKET!!! ------------------
If sending Cato to Chicago meant enough cap space for Hakeem and CWebb (provided both would sign of course), that farm can go. ------------------ [This message has been edited by win14me (edited June 03, 2001).]
Cato is not to be given away. Simple, he just doesn't fit in with this team and the offensive scheme's. Cato is a good player but he has to be under different circumstances. With Cato the Bulls have a pretty decent team. C-Cato PF-Brand SF-Richardson SG-Mercer pg-Drew Of course it's not a world beater, but it's better than what they had this past year. Cato is a big body that when he is into the game can make a difference. Cato ain't all bad. But, I definatley want him on another team, for him of course. A better situation. And the Bulls do provide that. Bull's coach Tim Floyd did get him to play in Iowa. Rudy just doesn't have the babysitter coach character to deal with Cato to get him to play. But, by all means don't give Cato away. ------------------ [This message has been edited by a.k.a vince (edited June 03, 2001).]
You have to have an offensive game to fit, or not fit, into an offensive scheme. No, Cato is not all that bad. If someone cloned Cato, and made him available at #18, or #23, I would draft him. Why? Price. My biggest gripe is paying 6 million for a guy just for next year, when you can pay about 4 million for a guy over the next 4 years. If teams were banging down the door for Cato, he'd be gone already. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
In this Case, Lost Trust. The Last thing one would want to do is to lose established trust with a person/organization he/she cares about. Who the hell drafted this guy with Lewis still on the board? ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
enbehay / Rocket & /a.k.a vince We're all in agreement! My biggest complaint is not Cato per se, but rather that we have to pay him what we do for what he gives in return! I also agree that we should get maximum return from whichever beholder sees beauty when looking at Cato... I kind of like the Miller/Fizer deal mentioned earlier too! And Rocket...chill We'll all get to either share in your epiphany or have one of our own... ------------- Our purpose in life is to find our gift, and the meaning of life is to give it away!! ------------------
I just ate some chinese food.. something big is definitely "BREWING" This is like a freakin soap opera.. i wish i could just jump in a time machine to november!!!!! ------------------ BILL KENNEDY SUCKS!
Please don't give away the farm! I truly believe the Bulls would trade Miller straight up for Cato. Heck, I have confidence CD could get Miller and Chicago's #30 second rounder for Cato. They like Cato. ------------------
I would pay the Rockets not to take Mason. He is nothing but problems, bad attitude, and past his prime, at which time he was only slightly above average. ------------------
The position of our picks does't normally amount to very much. Expect a trade to get Battier. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Nike, I've thought of something along those lines, if we can get Chicago to go for it. They don't really need Fizer, they do have other needs that the #4 alone won't fulfill, they might still have interest in Cato... Cato + #13 and the Drew obligation for Fizer, but we exchange Fizer for Webber, as the Kings will need a 4 (and want to get one cheap). Maybe keep Fizer if Webber is a complete pipe dream. (But I haven't heard anything about this team going after Fizer.) ------------------
