this thread seriously needs to be deleted off CF servers effective immediately...these Melo fans have no shame this BS angers the basketball gods the audacity to make a thread like this...
Old Tim Duncan played 4 yrs ago and won a championship. Would jordan or a young kobe survive in this era? This thread is so ignorant it's not even funny. Admins need to ban this fool.
whoa , who said Giannis was better than Hakeem ? Hope it wasn’t from my take you thought that . Dream would destroy Greek Freak ! I only thing I was trying to imply is if Dream was on a team today , it would be close to what the Bucks are doing with Giannis . Hakeem would even be more dominant than what Giannis doing on the Bucks . Hope that makes sense .
Hakeem would be fine in today's era you know why? He's learn to have a 3 point shot and be one of the greatest 3 point shooting centers in the game. He would be able to beat you inside and outside. Imagine As for defense, if Capela can hang and guard perimeter players, Hakeem would do it even better. He blocked John Starks 3 pointer to win a finals game after all. He has the quickness. He didn't get beat off the dribble even when switched up. But it wouldn't be hard to come up with a schema that kept Hakeem below the free throw line using switching thus allowing him to still be a shot blocker.
Well we all know Hakeem can shoot the corner three. One of my favourite memories is Hakeem shooting that corner three in game 4 completing the sweep of the Magic. So sure he could. I think his defense would set him apart, he may not be as effective offensively but defensively he would be the best in the NBA
Apologies if I over looked it but no one posted the highlight of him running KJ down from behind? Unreal a 6’10 guy running down a guard that way! Probably the most incredible play I remember when watching him. You took all his blocks for granted kinda like watching JH drop 40 every night.
Like is said, closest comparison today is actually Durant... not AD/Embiid. Actually he'd be prime Durant on offense and prime Draymond on defense.
Dream would be an elite perennial 1st team all nba performer in today's nba. Winning would obviously be contingent on how the team was built around him. He would be raining threes, dominating the paint, abusing every mismatch, switching out with ease and shutting down post players and perimeter players alike.
There isn't a single big in today's game with the athleticm/skill of peak Hakeem. Thinking closest thing would be brow plus a Draymond level ability to switch & doglike defense. Embiid isn't as quick/agile. Nobody else comes to mind. (Jump to 2:00 min mark)
I have to say, I liked Clint but he drove me crazy a lot of times. Flat footed while some short guy drops it over him. Can't tell you how many times I thought, "Dream would have swatted that." And there were substantially more times than that where I thought, "Dream would have tried to get that one." But he's not the only one. In the last 10 years only Ibaka and Whiteside have reached 3 blocks per game and nobody's come close to 300 blocks in a year since old Marcus Camby had 285 in 07-08. Dream went over 3 blocks per game 9 times and over 4 twice, including 89-90 where he went for 376 at a 4.6 per game clip. If Dream was playing now, he would own the paint. Players now would have little experience facing what he would do with rim protection. Drop prime Dream into a game today and he'd have 10+ blocks a game for the first rotation through the league before players figured out he wasn't Clint and quit challenging him.
When questioning whether an older player could compete today, ask two questions: 1) Can he compete athletically? And even then, immense skill can offset this. 2) How serious did he work on his game. For Dream, it’s a resounding yes on both.
