what history? BoB has never given up playcalling before. I guess you pulled that **** out if your ass?
What do y'all think about Texans adding darius slay in a trade. Not sure if they have the draft capital to do it though.
Didn't he give up play calling to Godsey to start 2015 and then he took it back at some point in the season? I may have my years wrong, but I do recall Godsey was in a similar situation as Kelly is starting this year.
Yes lol this has happened before. Promotes his handpicked position coach with no experience calling plays that doesn't really exist outside of OBrien Gives them play calling duties Offense fails, he takes over play calling Play calling still sucks, fires the "OC" Hires a new guy that will "train"
Why do you deny this? July 10, 2015: Bill O'Brien has handed over play-calling duties to his newly named offensive coordinator George Godsey. September 30 2016: Bill O'Brien to Resume Calling Texans' Offensive Plays Here's a tweet from McClain about it where he lays out the play calling situation: OBrien had playcalling duties, gave them to Godsey, took them away, fired Godsey, has had them since, is giving them to Tim Kelly and likely will take them away from him and fire him too.
Different situation, plus Godsey SUCKED. To be fair, the QB situation was worse. You did see the "Texans tied 4 last in scoring" part, correct? You don't know what will happen. If the Texans are LAST IN SCORING, a HC should take back the play calling.
Personally I'd fire any OC and/or play caller who admittedly doesn't have a play to call on 4th and 1 from inside the opponent's 15 yard line.
Per Texans sources, Deshaun Watson and Larmey Tunsil won't be giving hometown discounts on contract extensions as they seek market value. Watson is aware Bill O'Brien didn't want to draft him https://t.co/qzDvxDzhIK — Charlie Campbell (@DraftCampbell) February 27, 2020
Watson has stood up and defended and has spoken highly of O’Brien multiple times. This is written poorly as it is insinuating that Watson doesn’t like O’Brien or has something against him for not wanting to draft him which I feel is wrong. Because Watson has even said he wanted to come here because of O’Brien and he’s had his opportunity to get rid of O’Brien if he wanted.
UM, duh. Young stars don't give discounts. Older stars may if they have been with a team for 10 years.
It's even worse. "Not wanting to draft him" comes from Rick Smith who clearly has an axe to grind, and Smith said merely that no one wanted to trade a 1st to move up to draft Watson at 12. That is NOT the same as not wanting to draft Watson. Furthermore, Watson works with BOB directly, he does not need Rick Smith rumors to inform him of who BOB is. If there's one thing that's known, it's that BOB is plain spoken and players will know where they stand. It only matters what the team feels about Watson now, not how they projected his value in the draft.
For those interested, Carl Smith is going to be the game day guy that helps O'Brien. He will be the one on the headset that advises O'Brien on Replay/Challenge calls, Time management situations, 4th down situations, etc......
