Statistics are important, but between Allen and Houston, I would choose the player that can best create his own shot. Houston is one of those players who can be both fluid and play with a lot of contact. I don't think Allen would be as reliable when the defense intensifies in the playoffs. ------------------ Not only have the Drew bashers crossed the line, but they've sprinted a couple of miles beyond it.

41 points in an elimination game. Ahem, nothing like pulling up old threads to show how right you were. ------------------ The season's over, but the 'Stros have started. Guess I'm still gonna be nursing that keg...
Astro, don't forget to post all of Ray Allen's whiney quotes from the past two weeks. That guy is a total *****. ------------------ You're a fine woman, why don't you mock that draft up
Astro, don't forget to post all of Ray Allen's whiney quotes from the past two weeks. That guy is a total *****. More like a total class act. However, I understand where you're coming from. If you're on the other side of his complaints, like Sixer fans are, he probably does come off as whiney. I personally think a large portion of what he's said has been the truth though, and I have as much or more respect for him now than I did before this series. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! It's good to see you back TheCat, I'd been so spent from reading ZRB's posts for the past year I had forgotten how much I usually disagree w/ you. During the past week, Ray Allen has claimed that Allen Iverson was faking an injury, that the NBA fixes games, that Dike goaltended his ball in game 5, etc. etc. This is a guy that is learning to push off as much as Reggie Miller. Ray Allen is a *****. He doesn't "play the game the right way"... he certainly doesn't play the media the right way. If you lose by giving up a 16 point lead, be a man and admit it. Last night they nearly gave up a 33 point lead. What would have happened had they lost? I certainly doubt that he would have been sportsman enough to congratulate his opponent. Ray Allen is a fraud. It's a shame that his little bs plight fits your mantronix personality. ------------------ You're a fine woman, why don't you mock that draft up
Why? My argument was that Ray Allen is a better player that Allan Houston. He's proving me right. Screw the quotes ------------------ The season's over, but the 'Stros have started. Guess I'm still gonna be nursing that keg...
If you lose by giving up a 16 point lead, be a man and admit it. The point he's been trying to make is that they might not lose if the officials put aside any biases and call things equally. Tim Thomas' flagrant against Tyrone Hill in the 4th quarter of game 5 gave the Sixers two points, and was the difference between a one point win and a one point loss. If you go back and watch the tape, Thomas clearly went for the ball, and actually got all ball at first, before making some contact with Hill. It was a foul I admit, but was not anywhere near deserving of a flagrant. Would the correct call have changed the outcome? Maybe, maybe not. But, we certainly don't know, and there is reason to believe officiating could possibly have influenced the outcome, in which case he would have a right to complain. During the past week, Ray Allen has claimed that Allen Iverson was faking an injury, that the NBA fixes games, that Dike goaltended his ball in game 5, etc. etc. If you watch in slow motion, you could make a legit argument that Allen's ball was indeed going down when Mutombo tipped it away. And, he did not say that the games were fixed. He said that the NBA wanted Philadelphia in the Finals more than Milwaukee, which is extremely logical when you consider the NBA is a business looking for profit, ratings, etc. Market size matters. In addition, his reference to Stern proclaiming that he wanted the Sixers to win from what I've heard came from a report from his family members who sat near Stern at Game 5. Maybe they're lying, or exaggerating. But I can tell you one thing-- he and his family are in a much better position to tell than any of us, so its not our place to degrade him on the basis of something we can't confirm. This is a guy that is learning to push off as much as Reggie Miller. You know, I was thinking the same thing about Allen Iverson this whole series. Every time he drives he uses that left arm so well to just push off that defender-- much like Jordan and Reggie Miller. Allen may get away with a couple of pushoffs here and there, but not even close to the amount that Iverson gets away with. Last night they nearly gave up a 33 point lead. What would have happened had they lost? I certainly doubt that he would have been sportsman enough to congratulate his opponent. Actually, it was never trimmed to inside 10 points, and as long as the lead is in double digits, I don't consider it to be "nearly given up." However, I think he would've shown the class he possesses and congratulated all of the Sixers on a great comeback. His complaints about the officiating came after several questionable calls that went against the Bucks over the course of game 5. Is it fixed? Probably not-- his position was a little extreme. But if you watch the tapes from these last few games, what he said is in the realm of possibility, and it should not subject him to the relentless attacks on his personality that he has had to endure in the past week. He was, and still is, probably the classiest guy in the NBA. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Even if Allen is 100% right in all his claims, it's not worth him crying and whining about it. I used to really like Ray Allen a lot. I still like him a little. What needs to happen is that he let his play do his talking for him, like in game 6. If the bucks are far enough ahead, then it doesn't matter what the refs do, or anything else. I remember the '94 championship Rockets when they opened the season with that huge winning streak, and the Knicks did a lot of talking before the Rockets beat them. The Rockets said over and over they would respond on the court, and they did. It showed class. Again in the playoffs, when Barkly used to be a bad guy, and made all his comments about the Rockets need to bring their golf clubs to phoenix, and that the Suns were in the Butt Kicking business, or AC Green guaranteed that the Suns would win the series etc. Let's not forget Drexler getting thrown out of the game, by the ref making a really crappy call. The Ref ended up not officiating another play off game, but the Rockets didn't cry about it for a week. The Rockets kept their mouth shut and let their play speak for them. Ray has shown he can let his play do the talking. ------------------
I remember that and how much it pissed me off. The Knicks were already talking about their championship ceremony and the kinds of wine that were going to be served... blah blah. ------------------ "Minute after minute, hour after hour, the proud and strong knight struggled in vain against the wasp inside his armour."

This is your only argument? Not rebounds, passing, defense, athletic ability or even points per game averege?? Just proper arm extension on jusmpshots? Call me when Allan Houston gets a COMPLETE game. ------------------ The season's over, but the 'Stros have started. Guess I'm still gonna be nursing that keg...
